Hey well I put my system in with a $300 dollar head unit 1000 watt amp and two twelves. As I listen to it maybe 15 mins into the ride the subs either cut out or die down for a couple minutes then kick again. I had the same subs and a less wattage amp and a very cheap head unit in my wrangler I had before the liberty and it never did this at all. It sounds like it is not getting enough power but I dont understand. Someone with system knowledge help me out I am retarded. Thanks

I would first off check what you have the gain set on the amplifier. If that is too high your new amp is potentially going into to protection mode to protect itself from clipping and destroying the subs.

Check the fuse under the hood, make sure thats not too low of a fuse rating, if you are using the same fuse as the one from your previous amp, that could be a problem as well.

whip out your DMM (digital multi-meter) and check that your power and remote wires are getting sufficient power while playing at those volumes (potential alternator/battery issue if not)

Where is your amp grounded?

The wiring kit i bought with the amp and head unit is a 4 ohm wiring kit it cost me like 100 dollars. I did adjust the wattage on the amp and it still did it. and the fuse is huge a lot bigger than the one i had in my other jeep ( you have to excuse me i know nothing about sound systems). As for the grounding i think he grounded it to something in the back I am not sure i had a professional install it. I did not have my subs with me at the time so he couldnt have corrected it.
Sorry if i am confusing

I'd bring the car back to the shop where it was installed. Show him the problem and he should have somewhat of an idea. Its possible the subs are wired to an Ohm load too low for the amp causing it to prematurely over heat or go into protection mode because the subs want more power then the amp is capabl of drawing.

What is the setup you have for subs and amps? Do you know the Voice coil configuration of the subs?

I think you are on the right track with the amp going into protect from the subs not being wired correctly

There are only so many possibilities for the situation. An Ohm load issue seems the most logical because its only happening at a high volume.

Its hard to diagnos problems over the internet not being able to see anything.

Give me 5 minutes in real life and chances are id be able to tell you 100% what it is. Of course, it is in my job description to do so...being a car stereo installer and all.
