My girlfriend just got her car back tonight. Replacing the TC only took two times. The idiots at dealership performed the wrong recall, by changing the ball joints for the second time. It seems like shifts are set at higher RPMs, where the motor has less power. I am wondering if the higher revs will effect the mpg. My mom is moving home this weekend so I will be able to check two libertys side by side. I will try to take some notes.

Bad case of butterfingers? :D

Seriously, could be they figured yours got missed on the filter TSB, or that someone in that service dept actually has a clue and knew about the incorrect filter causing problems with the TC and decided to do the job right and eliminate a potential problem.

I got a call today from my dealership, they need the CRD from another day. The F37 is complete except the TCM won't reflash properly and won't shift correctly.

Yeah... I'm seriously beginning to think half of the problems in this forum are related to a dumb dealership.

Which is why I'm by no means worried about the reliability of my vehicle.

What is this filter TSB?

Seems more rev-happy now. I must say... I like it. Turbo-Lag has been minimized.

Transmission shifts "different".

You could not have said it any better. My third day of driving with the replacement TQ and it's just better. Mine already had the latest programming in it prior to F37, so my only change was the TQ - it must be different in design. It is rev-happy, in a good way.

There were times on the interstate when I needed more rpms as the torque was not enough to get me going fast - and it just would not do it. Now, it does it. Strange...

Maybe the 6 days of h-e-double-hockey-sticks at the dealership will be worth it in the long run... Checked my transmission fluid level again last night, still full, but still seeping a few drops from the lower bell housing - hoping it's just left over mess...

I haven't had the F37 done yet, so I have a dyno test scheduled for this afternoon. Some places wanted $150 to do it; I was happy to find a place that only charged $65. I'll post the results later.

Very cool, make sure you try to eliminate any other variables when you do the dyno for the "post F37" dyno. Might go ahead and put a new air filter in for this run, and make sure you get your fuel from the same place. And tell them you want to know what power and torque look like at shift points, as well as a max power curve.

Seat of pants report of 20 mile test drive this morning.

TC lock up is 68 mph under normal excelleration and there is no clunkey shifts in town or on the highway. Had it to 110 mph without a problem, real steady, solid pull till I hit the long 20 degree grade where it dropped to 105 mph but held that till top of hill. There seems to be almost none of the lag when heavy throttled at any speed. Although I never did the foot to the floor thing from a standing start, just from rolling 5 mph or 10 mph star, it was always smooth and with steady pulling power. I did notice that it held TC lock up to lower RPM's and did't unlock as easy as before when throttling up. I was very pleased with it overall. How much of this was just TC? I don't know to tell you the truth, the flash upgrade was done almost 2 months ago and greatly improved the Jeep. But you could make the vehicle shift uneven and clunky at times before the TC replacement, now the shifting is perfect and the wife even noticed and commented how different the Jeep drives.

Checked fluid level and it is dead on the top line/hole. 8)

That's two of us that have had updated programming well before the TQ swap and as such only had the TQ for F37 with no further programming. This has to be a different performance design on the replacement TQ.

Make that three, since my new TC, Pump and transmission was software flashed before the F37 and shifts very nicely but loss of power is noticable when compared to how it operated before.

It maybe, but the parts dept says they just put in a standard TC and log's in the recall prefix. If the clutches in the TC were worn then a new TC would make a big difference, but like you I would think there would be evidence of wear in the fluid and filters. However if corrected soon enough I guess the TC filter would hold all of that material. We saw none in ours when we had our filters TSB done at about 1300 miles. I didn't/don't think we could have damaged the TC enough to cause a problem shifting, but I am not a tranny expert. So I am assuming the parts people I talked with are wrong, and the TC may indead be different.

PS: I can't for sure say that we suffered no loss of power, but the seat of pants dyno didn't notice any durring the run this morning.

I had all the TSB's completed within the first 1300 miles of use and have had no issues. I recieved the recall notice and have had the F37 completed. The TC and Trans pump was replaced. The service tech said that it was a different TC part number. I have found a more defined shift in the lower gears with a snap in accelaeration in third. The tech left everyrthing clean and no leaks have been detected in my drive way. Maybe the 2 dozen donuts left on the front seat for the servioe dept. worked. Their last comment was that if I have a problem "Please don't hesitate to get back with us" and have happy holiday. I didn't buy this vehicle from this dealership and they hope my next purchase will be through them.

Never hurts to bribe.

I took some of the best sweet rolls in the country to the shop when I went in for the recall, had one tech come and tell me thanks and to say how good they were.

Awesome! That'll be very valuable info. Thanks a lot. Let us know & I'm sure some of us would chip in for the cost.

I would be willing to pitch a little in to cover expenses. If you are interested, start a new thread (Dyno Help) or something like that and we will see how many would be willing to help.

Well, I got the Jeep back Wednesday night after the recall and this morning it threw and check engine light. I can't seem to pull up the code, so I am going in tonight to have the dealer pull it. I wonder what is screwed up now?

Nope, I have never chipped a car, done about everything else though over the years.

The only "speed or HP" mod is Flowmaster 40 muffler.

I know, just giving you some grief. I will probably get F37 done after the holiday. I am going to tell them to replace the pump too, regardless of what the test reveals. I would just assume have the new one. My attempts to get a custom heavy duty torque converer have not yet met with success-- so I will probably just wait on that.

I have not chipped mine, but am strongly considering in-motion's economy tune and EGR "reduction".

I got a call they can't reflash TCM and it will have to be replaced. Sounds like it's out of stock won't be finished until late next week
