Did I ever say it wasn't for a Diesel? No, I just said it was discontinued.
I DID say the CURRENT M1 T&SUV (which is a 5w30 weight for gasoline engines only) is not for Diesels.
Basically, any T&SUV 5w40 that you find on the shelves is just left-over stock as M1 does not make this product any more. Their current products are listed in my previous post with the three links on them. The reason why I said something in the first place is because it is senseless to tell someone to look for a product that is discontinued. Second, some may get confused when they see T&SUV on the shelf and they may not notice that the new product is a 5w30 and meant for gasoline engines only.
So my statement stand correct, M1 T&SUV (as it is currently produced in a 5w30) is NOT for Diesel engines. The discontinued T&SUV is acceptable for Diesel engines if you can find whatever is left on store shelves.
oldnavy is probably correct that the OLD T&SUV and the NEW TDT 5w40 weight oils are probably the same thing, based on the typical properties listed on the M1 website being exactly the same.
