so my bro tried, off road shop recommended. i know its not LOST recommended though. I've searched and like all lifts it not without its own problems like spring contact solved by another big chunk o rubber and hose clamp mod. I don't want to be a jerk. can I put in on to say I appreciate it, drive it around on the streets until I can afford to mod the lift to make it work off road as well. is it driveable? can I make it wheelable? or do i just say sorry dude, I can't put that on the jeep. lets just take it back while we can and get a different one (jerk move).

The most common complaint with that front clevis spacer is the front stock struts will go out prematurly just like on the OTT style spacers lifts. Then you'll just have to tear the front end apart down the road again, and spend more time and money to remedy the problem. I'd have to say, exchange it now, and upgrade to a more dependable kit.

If you sit down and figure out what it is going to take to put it on time wise etc. Then later to replace the struts etc with new its not really worth it. The guy I bought my ARB bumper from was in the same boat, went for one of the Rocky Road OTT kits, he blew out the struts ruined the upper ball joints, all kinds of problems and in just a few thousand miles. He ended up replacing everything back to stock, new struts, springs, upper A arms, new fenders etc. when he took the ARB bumper off. When I picked up the bumper he "threw in" the whole OTT kit, and the cut to fit Renegade front fenders. I thanked him for it and trashed the OTT kit when I got home. So in the end take it back while you can like KJ04 said and get something that will work for a long time. The expense of doing it the wrong way will cost you a bundle in the end.

letigre,I think you've already answered your own question by saying"all lifts is not without it's own problems".IMO your right.Any time you change the factory angels your making a premature wear sacrifice(no matter what kit or at any price).So my way of thinking was,why would I want to spend more money for the same end results?Yes I do have the "I would'nt buy it if I where you"Rustys OTT lift,and I am personally not seeing all the problems the others are warning you about.I've been offroad 8 to 10 times with it with some legitimate "stuffing and flexing" and still no noises or blown struts.Better struts made for offroad use are sooner or later going to be a must wether you buy them seperate or with your kit.As for balljoint contact i've always had daylight between BJ and spring at FULL droop.And to be fair I'm not posting this to talk you into keeping this lift,I'm just sharing my experiences and opinions.

BUT I think the real question is should he keep the lift that he received for Christmas that we all know has several problems or try and return for something that is better. IMO I would return and use the money to UPGRADE to something that would do a lot better, last longer etc. than what he received.
But of course thats only my 2 cents and after the Christmas rush is all I have left!

OK..I'm going to go thru your post and give you my "real" answer.It's yes,because,you can't use the words "we all know" when "I am not we" and I have'nt had several problems,and "something that is better" is your opinion.As for returning it,I would only return it for Rustys OTT @ 159.00/60.00 for longer rear shocks,total of 219.00.Thats still cheaper than the Rough country he got for
359.00.The 160.00 left over would be half way to better front struts. Now as for"do a lot better"I cant compare cause I've not used the other types.But one thing is for sure,if you think that a coil spring that is probably going to settle and sag 1/2 to 1 inch,(reducing your height) is going to last longer than that chunk of steel on top of Rustys spacer lift then we probably need to do further testing.Well that just leaves the 2 cents after the Christmas rush. Your a little luckier than me on that one,cause I didnt have that much before Cristmas ....and maybe little brother was in the same shape I'm in and thats really all he could afford.

thank you all for the posts. from what I got and have read, its possible to make it work but not cost effective so i know he wouldn't be happy if I had to pay alot of money to fix it up. that and he made it easy by saying if theres alot of lifts out there that are junk and to research it, well I already did...and this is what I got. so the solution is rusty's suspension lift and I'll pay the difference. it saves us time working at his shop and me money not having fix it up to prolong the enevitable. thank you all for the help.
