They were telling me since i'd had it back a week and just noticed a problem (my wife is off school until january and she is the one that drives it), that the transmission line could have split through normal use. They also mentioned that part is not covered under any warranty, and they weren't obligated to cover it. I spoke with the owner and he implied he was doing me a "favor" by covering parts and labor.

You must have the paitence of a saint. I would be on my way to prison by now if told that about a warrantied, the recalled vehicle fresh off the repair rack.

On the bottom of the recall there is a notice that if you had repairs done allready to your torque converter.Send in your receipts for a refund.Has anyone done this. And would a aftermarket torque converter be refunded. Are there any aftermarket torqe converters made that will work on a CRD??Just looking into all the options!

I was wondering the same thing. If I were I'd definitly look into DTT Diesel Transmission Technology. That is the company that made the billet TC and trans parts for my Cummins and I wouldn't trust anyone else. Other companys make good products but I have used and abused the DTT and it is flawless.

I would bet that DC wouldn't refund the work done *after* the recall notice was sent out. Your receipts would have to be dated prior to the recall notice.

Forgive me if this question has been asked or addressed, but i do not have the patience to read 35 pages

My CRD is current "under the knife" at the dealer. I am supposed to pick it up some time today. I have read through the first couple of pages and people are noticing a change in the torque of the engine. I am wondering if DC is saying that they are reducing the power or if they are letting on like they are just replacing a part.

To be honest, I will not be too happy if they reduct the power even a little bit. Is there anything that can be done about this from DC. I know i can install an EDGE modual, but i was kind of waiting for the warrenty to be up before i start playing around with that stuff.

Thanks for any help

Last week I took my '05 CRD in for the F37 recall. Computer was reflashed and torque converter replaced. Afterwords I set out on a thousand mile plus round trip to see family. This included dry open road driving, bad weather driving, some in-town driving, and some deep snow driving (in my driveway when I got home).

Bottom line: no problems. My CRD did not suffer horribly from the infamous 55 mph "shudder" before F37, but it shifts much smoother now. It still "hunts" a little in an out of overdrive at about 55 mph, but not any worse than other vehicles I have driven. I can't see that power has been affected appreciably. Driving over Vail Pass (over 10,000 feet), I was able to leave the cruise control set at 65 mph the whole way up the pass--the CRD never shifted out of overdrive! Left a couple of V8 Land Rovers in the dust as they tried to slobber their way up the pass at about 45 mph to 55 mph--obviously dropped down into a lower gear. Very few SUV's can keep up with the CRD on the passes, even ones with big V6's or V8's that get half the fuel economy. And speaking of fuel mileage, I got between 24 and 28 mpg (hand-calculated) on the trip. That is about what I expected from winter-blend fuel.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but the F37 seemed to make my CRD run better and smoother, with no noticeable ding to performance or fuel economy. It's unfortunate that so many other people seem to be having problems with the F37--I can't help but think part of it is attributable to techs not knowing what they are doing. I've also been driving diesels vehicles for going on three decades--so I'm used to them.

Just as an update, my vehicle is still at the dealership waiting on a transmission line. They ordered it and had it over nighted on tuesday, however they didnt realize until today they ordered it from a parts depot that is closed between christmas and new years. So now it has been reordered from another dealership in Wisconsin. So I am still without a vehicle, for going on 5 weeks. Does anyone have contact information for a zone rep for the midwest or any phone numbers that dont relay through the DCx 800 line? At this point I'd say I've spend a good 20 hours just on the phone to get my vehicle serviced and i'm sick of talking to people that assure my they can't help or do anything @ all.

Not only will it not shift out of O.D. while pulling long hills, it will accelerate up them in O.D.. That is the diesel experience I love.

My F37 was finished in one day. Dealership gave me a crew cab Dak 4x4 for a day, and holy crap! 23.5 L/100 (10mpg) in the city with the 4.7L V8...yikes! My '73 440 Charger almost gets 10mpg in the city, WTF?

Anyhow, I hammered the beasty to put some "good lessons" into the 545RFE's memory right off the bat! Seems to have worked, it gets up and goes from a light, yet is nice and smooth otherwise. No shuddering/rumbling in OD/lock-up anymore. I'll see how the mileage goes, but it was rather low before it went in, around 16mpg city, 21 hwy. Hopefully that improves, or I'll have to go digging to see what's going on...

Cheers,
Duey

Forget it, its a loss trying to talk to them. Get an attorney now, Shouldnt cost you a penny, DC will end up paying the attorney fees. I tried to talk to them to and it was a complete loss. I tried to deal with this thing for a year and a half now, I just cant have it breaking down on a bi weekly basis, with the wife and kids in the car.

Our '06 had the f37 recall done to it on the 22nd of December. Just the converter was replaced. Took it on a 3200 km round trip over the holidays getting home yesterday evening. As it is my wife's daily driver I do not use it a whole lot. She said that this fall she has experienced mild shuddering at around 80 km/hr. I have never experienced it shuddering before this trip and was really surprised at how badly it shuddered on occasion at highway speed (~100 km/hr or so with part-throttle or coasting). I have never observed a vehicle to hammer this badly. It went away immediately with some throttle. Anyway, I have just returned from the dealership. They took it out for a test drive where the shudder failed to raise it's ugly head - darn. They ran a diagnostics check and nothing untoward was noted. I explained the problem at length to the service manager who believed me. He said that they may wish to keep it for a few days so that a technician can drive it for a while. The fuel economy on the trip ranged from 28 to 33 mpg. Other than this intermittent shuddering, the vehicle runs very well.

Anyway, the problem is documented. The service manager was told of the common TC problems experienced by the Membership here. He accepted that at face value and said that he would be following up with Chrysler about the problem.

John.

Well there is a brighter side of F37. Ever since I got it...

My keyless entry actually works more than 10' away from the vehicle.

Did they ever fix yours after the problem F37 work?

Just had the f37 recall and the ball joint recall done at the same time. It was in the shop 1 day with no issues got it back and I am very happy with the way it drives now. The Turbo "launch" is virtually gone and it shifts much smoother. Don't notice a shudder but never really did anyway. The front end seems tighter and more stable also? I guess I'm one of the lucky ones..... "knock on wood"

The vehicle shifts better, the power is reduced. The vehicle stumbles changing gears but at the reduced power level it is less noticeable.

On the hill we encountered on the test drive we achieved 65 M.P.H. and released the accelerator now we go 52 M.P.H. at wide open throttle.
The vehicle is not as powerful as when new.

I intend on getting a chip at some point, but I don't want to shell out a bunch of money only to get back the stock performance. I want the chip to boost the performance with stock as the basline, not F37 as the baseline.

Dropped my 05 CRD to the dealer yesterday for the ball joint and TC recalls. Just got a call from the service manager saying my PCM crapped out when they tried to do the reprogram. The part is on factory backorder and they have no idea how long it will be. Luckily, I have a loaner Jeep from them. Has anybody else experienced this situation?
