I have skids and rocker rails. But don't need anymore body damage. Have my Jeep at the collision shop now getting fixed from the rear-end accident and getting hit by a tree at "The Badlands"

You will use the skids and the rock rails, but you will get through. Do you have front tow points? We may have to strap you up one place in the chute, but you will make it w/o body damage (unless you get too close to a tree or rock wall  )

You will make it through without body damage. Body damage is more a results of how aggressive of a line you take and how much you push the limits.

You will use your skids and will need to take some bypasses but you will make it through. Also, you will need front tow hooks because you will probably need a tug a few times.

I plan to bring my Rubicon, which will have a winch by then, so we will probably have that as a safety precaution as well.

Are you still planning for the 17th of Feb? I might be able to attend that weekend.

Interesting that Renegade363 asked about no lift. I've been wanting to get out on the trail, but didn't have the equipment yet. Now i have recovery points and skids (no rock rails YET) so maybe this one could be a possibility. It would be my first outing though... Too tough for the first time?

You will take a few bypasses, and we are looping onto a new trail - could be 2WD, could be a B!+*#. You're going to have to be very careful w/o rock rails though. We can stack rocks though...

Well, if I decide to go, I will be sure to get rails first. I'll let you know!

I'd go w/o the rails, and just have us stack rocks if we need to...

There's also a post on here that popped up today about a Badlands run, which they say would be easier. Might be an option, especially for you tommudd in Toledo. Tis a bit furthur from Kent...

Ive never been to badlands, but from the pics, it just looks like alot of mud.

Thats what I like about Livingston, its mostly rocks and sand. 8) Someone said its like Moab only with trees. :)

The badlands would probably be eaiser, especially some of the beginner trails. However, there is no comparison on which is quality of the wheeling through. With the badlands you are fourwheeling a 1 square mile area and end up doing lots of circles, plus it costs 20 dollars to get in. The National Forest covers hundreds of square miles and is free. Plus the terrain is better, I'll take sand and rocks over mud any day.

each place has its merits. I will agree that the Badlands gets boring after just a few trips there, but its all we chicago guys have for a day trip that won't have a greater risk of body damage to a KJ like the Cliffs would.

We also seem to find a new area each time we visit the Badlands, but agreed places like Land Between the Lakes and Daniel Boone, and of course Moab cannot be compared to a small offroad park like the Badlands.

Any day jeeping is a good day, no matter where you are. Now, back to this thread topic... the Livingston trip.

If Renegade363 and Jerbacher are talking about it...it's giving me hope. :) I know that if I did committ to anything...I would have the front tow hooks and rock rails....but NO lift or tires. Big downside....of course I would be EXTREMELY careful because this is my daily driver....but I'm itching to make a run to this place!

Moose....you better be ready to "stack alot of rocks!!"

I was going to go see my wife that weekend in Boston, but now thinking of excuses to tell her
1.) I wont be home that weekend
2.) I wont be coming to see her that weekend
3) She may not be able to even reach me on the cell
Oh well now that I think about it she would just think that I was with my mistress....Ms. Liberty LOL
Starting to think more seriously, would be a great CONVOY starting up around here and picking up KJs from here to Lexington!

Pixeldzn is correct. For what it is the badlands is actually quite nice. Alot of the trails loop through out the area, so eventhough it is small area you can get a little more riding in than you would think. Since for me it is actually a little further than the Livingston area, its kind of a easy choice. If it was close, like for the Indy guys then it would be a tough call.

Last off topic post for me.

If we get enough stockers, we could run two groups. Eddo can take the modifieds all the way up the chute and down to meet at the cave, and I could take the stockers straight to the cave. If we want to run the stockers up the chute after lunch, but before the new leg of the trail, the modifieds just get an extra shot at the best rocks of the day :D
