Hi guys, we made it! We're settling down in NC (hopefully for quite some time). Our belongings haven't arrived yet, so we are staying at a hotel in Cary for the time being. We don't have our vehicles either ... but at least we got a rental KJ (4x2) so life is good.

Do you have any plan for next month?

I am always down for a run. Name a place and Ill be there. Uwharri is closed till April, and Tellico seems a bit far to drive. Dean? Allen? Ben? Any ideas?

Thanks for the welcome, people :)

We'll probably wait a month or so to get settled in first before we even think about going on a trail. We do plan to hit the beach or maybe camp out on the mountains if it's not too cold at this time of year (are we showing signs of CA desert rat already?)

What brought us down here? A few things actually. Number one is that one of our kids is starting school soon (he's turning five this year), and we really should settle down somewhere. California just didn't give us the settle-down-and-raise-kids feeling, what with the air pollution, crime, etc. Housing cost is not that big of a deal, since we plan to be renting for a while in either place.

So that leaves the job consideration as (one of) the deciding factors. Luckily, our company has offices all over, and NC office (Cary, NC) happens to be growing and in need, and there's good growth in the future. The town of Fuquay-Varina seems to be open-minded enough that we could build what we like without undue distress.

The weather is nice --- a little bit of everything. Lots of lovely trees all around ...

... it all clicks :) so here we are.

Welcome to the Old North State!

I live in Cary, been here forever. And it has always been growning at a huge rate.
If you build a house with a Jeep garage in Fuquay and we'll have some parties.

Since my accident in October, I haven't been driving much. And now the medical bills are putting a little strain on the budget. However, Uwharrie is an easy day trip and will be open in a few months. I hear rumblings about other places near by, but I don't know if they are actual legal places to drive.

I hope to be moving to the cary (or surrounding area) in 4 or 5 months. Visited a few times and it seems nice. Waiting for the wife to finish her gymnastics competition season then we are off. Hope to see all of you soon. joe

You know I was thinking about that :) I would love to have boulders on the driveway so I could get in a little rock climbing action whenever I get the urge.

The lot we're looking at is sloping so maybe we can do something there :-)r
