Can anyone tell me where the hose clamp next to the pump is? Not much rooom in engine bay and my lighting in my garage is pretty poor. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Inspected the electrical plug to the fuel heater tonight and found it wet with fuel. Removed the plug and pumped the primer twice. It shot fuel across the engine compartment. DC didn't tell us the CRD comes with a built-in parts washer.

Shouldn't this defect be reported to the NHTSA website as a possible fire hazard??? Last I checked, electrical current + fuel + heat is not a good combination.

Be sure to take that to the dealer as soon as possible and have the manager stand in the right place when you show him the leak. :-)r

Bump

I had this repaired under warranty and it was reported to NHTSA. I would encourage anyone that has this type of leak to do the same.

This defect has the potential to be as much a fire hazard as the Ford truck cruise control switch leaking and igniting brake fluid.

I will also be reporting mine to the NHTSA. How about a sticky on this one? RFCRD, Darby Walters, and I have all experienced this problem. My gut tells me it is not a fluke.

Regarding the lift pump idea, in the March 2007 issue of Diesel Power, on p144 there is an article about a Dodge CTD with a FASS lift pump and filter system ahead of the CP3. Not many details.
