The TJ belongs to my friend Doug... he has a 3" BDS Lift and 33" Super Sports... he will be attending Camp Jeep with us next week 8)

Here's a closeup of the Grabbers' tread... they are very aggressive looking for A/T tires... most pictures don't do justice as those of you know that have them...

Looks very good. The General AT2's are some nice lookin tires, not too mention they are well priced. Do you get any rubbing up front? Did you do any trimming?

Love that KJ! I have a dark kakhi kj as well (though mine is a neutered 2wd). Do you think your tires would fit on a non lifted kj? how do the tires ride on the highway?

a 245/70R16 will fit an unlifted, 255 might be pushing it. That's a 30.1" tire, halfway between the tire most people run lifted, 245/75R16 (30.5"), and the largest suggested tire for an unlifted: 245/70R16 (29.5").

The grabbers do come in a lot of sizes, though, even a stock 235/70R16 (I have one as my spare since I didn't want to pay for a goodyear)

Looks great, Mark!

I've got about 1,000 miles on my Grabber AT2's and they're holding up just fine. They do well on the highway. They're the kind of tires any Jeep should have.

So, how do you like the Rusty's kit? Aren't all the coils and struts/shocks OME?

the only OME parts that come with Rusty's kit are the front struts...

all four coils are made by Rusty's and the rear shocks are Rusty's brand but they are made by some other company... i swapped those out for Rancho 17004's

i really do like this lift... it perfoms very well off road and on... i have not had any problems with it at all...

Mark...did you add the upper strut plates? And are you using two rear spring isolators or just one stock spring pad? I am going to run 245/75/16s on this KJ.

Also, is it just an upcharge from Rusty's to get the Ranchos? I have them on my 03 and they are great. This lift is actually for my brother's '05 Rene just like yours, but silver.

Oh...BTW, you KJ looks great, I love the Rene's Thanks for the help.

i did not add the upper strut plate... and i used the same upper and lower rear spring isolators (pads) that were on there stock... i didn't add any additional ones...

i did end up trimming just a small corner off of each side of the air dam in front because we noticed rubbing at full lock in reverse... but that's it as far as rubbing.. i did not need to pound the pinch weld... i do not get any major rubbing in the rear even at full stuff... only notice slight marks on the inner fender liner where you can tell that the inside sidewall rubs at full stuff... but you can't even tell when you're driving...

i didn't mess with asking rusty's about the Rancho's... took my chances with Rusty's at first... i decided to go with Rancho's after having rusty's rear shocks for about a week and not being able to completely get rid of the squeaks and rattles... guess i was one of the unlucky ones... no biggie for me... ordered up rancho's from summit and problem solved...

only thing i added suspension wise that wasn't included in rusty's kit was some custom rear bumpstops i made with regular hockey pucks... i used some 3M heavy duty outdoor double sided foam tape to stick the hockey pucks on the spring perches on the axle... since KJ was still rust free on the spring perches, i just cleaned them off really good and stuck on the hockey pucks... they are holding up really well (they are stuck on there really good) and was the easiest way i could think of to add some insurance against bottoming out the new Rancho's...

just eyeballing, the rusty's shocks were 1 inch longer than stock and the Rancho's are one inch longer than Rusty's shocks... so i figured a one inch thick hockey puck bump stop would make up for that... and hey... i'm out 2 bucks for bump stops :D

Hey Mark...did you wait any amount of time before getting an alignment? I didn't know how much those Rusty's springs may settle. Thanks.

Nice Rig Mark, I'm running the factory tyres (Wrangler 235/70/16 SR-A). I will probably go for Cooper ST 255/70/16 when mine run out. It would be good to hear how your tyers go after a few off road runs (not heard of the Gerneral, is that the brand). I've got a 2" OME lift, how big was your lift. I'm noty interested in cutting or bashing any parts on the KJ.

Along with his question, that looks like the Thule wind fairing. Did it come without the Thule decal on it or did you remove it? I want one just like yours (black with no decal).

the cross bars are Mopar made specifically for the '05+ Renegade
the basket is BVG which is not made anymore AFAIK... got it for $65 at overstock.com a while back when someone here posted a link.

thanks! the general grabbers (yes.. general is a brand owned by continental tire) do very well offroad... never had an issue with them.. couldn't be happier with them... they are awesome in the snow, too! can you tell i like these tires?
my lift is the 2.5" coil lift from Rusty's Offroad.. i do not have any rubbing and did VERY minimal trimming on the front air dam becaus it only rubbed at full lock in reverse..

i'm only locked in the rear diff... got the powertrax no-slip locker back there... i'm one of the ones that loves the thing to death and think it's the best thing since sliced bread... no problems whatsoever on road... and the thing just rocks off-road... i don't believe i will ever lock the front... not really necessary for me... i can go anywhere i would ever want to go now.. anything worse for me would get me into serious body damage prone trails and i don't want that as this is a daily driver. my wife and i realized this at the new years run at hannibal rocks... mud mud mud and trees trees trees everywhere... never worried about getting stuck at all.. just worried about sliding into trees on those slick sloppy trails... was like driving on vaseline.. even the mud tire clad jeeps were having trouble steering between the trees

shhhh... i assembled fairing backwards so the Thule logo faces the roof... can't see it unless you really look for it.
