What is the future for our beloved Liberty? They (Daimler/Chrysler/Jeep) supposedly are going to offer a low-range on the Patriot. A new 2.4-liter I-4 “World Engine,” standard. The base price will be about $16,000.

I really like the look of the Liberty (50% of the reason I bought it), but shouldn't Jeep have made the Liberty design the "soft-roader" version of a Jeep and like the Commander the Patriot should be the more die hard Jeep? What do you all think.

Also, to seperate the two models in the future why don't we start a letter writing campaign to have them offer a "Rubicon" model of the Liberty. Model would include a lift, stronger front differential, Lockers on both ends, the awesome Rubicon rims and tires (including fender wells that are bigger and do not rub). Any options I'm leaving out?

I am all for a Rubicon version of the Liberty. I am a bit disappointed in what they offered for the Renegade. Not much difference for such a great name. I still like the Renegade name so perhaps they can upgrade the Reny with the Rubi options and factory mods.

1. Slightly bigger wheel well
2. 31" MTR tires and the Rubi wheels with the ability to switch to at least
32" tires.
3. SFA?
4. Solid rock rails that can at least compare to the RRO rails at a
minimum.
5. A 2 1/2" Lift

I'd bet Reny's would sell like hotcakes compared to their current sales, even if it did cost a lot more.

I think I wrote all of this in an earlier post about a month ago.

I am for the ugraded Rubicon Liberty. The renagde is more the luxury lib compared the sport. Why not put those options for "Rubicon Lib" on the sport. That way the price isn't that outrageous and runs about the same as the reny?

Hey, i like my Renny, and I dont feel it's the luxury lib. I wanted something that looked mean, and had the offroad package, etc. I especially like the Flatter Hood. I think it makes it look less girly (please no flames). If i wanted luxury, i would have bought a grand cherokee, or the limited lib.

Not to flame the Renny, but it is really just for looks (except maybe the lights on top) and I do think it looks better. I decided to get the sport and put the difference into modifications. If there was a Rubi version, I probably would have bought that.

All it would take is 2" taller springs, dampers, the Rubi wheels and tires and lockers. I don't understand why they don't do it ..... Let's face it, a stock KJ isn't impressive offroad simply because of ground clearance.

I have an 02 Renegade and I'm amazed how much the price has gone UP since I bought mine. If you were to add all of those options, it would cost you well into the 30,000 range. I think you can buy a stripped Renegade, and add those things for a lot cheaper than if you have the dealer do it. The only nice thing about it would be the warrenty that comes with it. Just my opinon.

Because soccer moms don't need lockers. Just being honest.
