Turbocharger passes oil from two sources:
1). Unfiltered closed crancase vent. This can be filtered through a Provent CCV filter or run as an open vent.
2). Oil passing the turbo seals. I tracked mine down to air filter constrictions from the filter element getting wet driving in the rain. Eliminated @ 95% of the oil by modifying the airfilter box with a water baffle or do as others and get an airfilter box from an '02-04 V-6 gasser where the intake air is drawn from over the top of the core support where the airflow is dry.

This oil causes several issues such as clogging the intercooler, fouling sensors, and mixing with the EGR soot in the intake manifold eventually causing flow constrictions. If there is enough to pass through the engine it will coke the vanes of your variable geometry turbocharger and plug the EGR passage.

RFCRD didn't mention you can remove the hose going to the intercooler on the passanger side and feel the oil film

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the CRD. But, seeing what they replaced, I don't think the motor is necessarily bad now. However, driving it with your foot to the floor, I guarantee you will destroy it in no time.

But, it's your Jeep, and you can do with it as you please. Good luck with it!

You got new rings so driving it with the diesel pedal to the floor occasionally aint' a bad thing...it'll help those rings seat.

Toyota..... Schmoyota.....
What's this propensity to always want to buy a TOYota.
We've had several TOYota P*ss-Ant Pickups as company vehicles.
We replaced more engine parts, engines, body parts, electrical parts on these P-A Pick-Ups than all of the so called Gringo built
Iron I've owned since I was 15... I'm 54 now (Gee... only 1 more year till free donut and senior coffee @ Cub on tuesdays).
Schmoyota.....Uh huh....

Yre, that is actually recomended in the owner's manual. Just don't do it from a standing start.
