I've installed an EVIC from an '05 onto my 2007. It has the TPMS function. I also had the pressure sensors installed when I had new tires installed last week. Now, all I need is the triggers for the front and right rear wheelwells. Thanks to this post, http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=17415 I was able to the find the part numbers for the triggers.

The question is "Where are the triggers mounted?" I want make sure that I have the wiring installed from the factory and where the triggers should be mounted.. Anyone have this information? Pics? A scan of a service manual page? A really good description? Anything?

TIA.

I'm not sure what you mean by "triggers" as far as I knew, the sensors went in the tires as a replacment for the valve stems and the EVIC itself picks up the signal they transmit.

I added an EVIC and sensors to mine, but didn't install anything other than that.

In the 2005+ Libertys, there are 3 triggers mounted in the wheelwells that pick up the wheel sensor signals. Without these triggers, the 2005+ EVIC has no way of knowing which sensor is in what location. (That's why they don't need to be trained like the 02-04 Libbys.)

Yeah, I got the part numbers from that post, but it does not show the actual mount locations for the sensors. I need to find out where the sensors are mounted so that I can see if the wiring is installed.

Any help would be appreciated! Whenever you have the time to get the info is fine with me. I am not in that much of a hurry. I'm just holding back from ordering the triggers until I know that the wiring and mount points are in my Sport. 2006-2007 location of the sensors would be what I'm looking for. There are 3.

Thanks!

Well scoobybri I did look at" desription and operation" section on Alldata. They are calling these parts "Transponders",located in the LF,RF,RR fender wells. A fourth one is not needed because once the system knows where 3 are,it can relate to which one will be the left rear. I didn't get a chance to look at wiring diagrams yet,but I will try to print some to bring home tonight. Not sure if Alldata can tell me if your 07 sport already has the connectors for these transponders, but atleast if I can get the wiring diagrams you'll know what colors to look for. You might have to try DC Tech. support to see if your libberty is "Transponder" ready with the connectors in place.I'm still searching for answers for you, don't give up on me. :)

I would love to have the answer to this as well, and if anyone who has these little buggers can verify the location that would be great. I would like to add TPM to my 06 and the existence of wiring for these triggers/transponders would either make or break the deal.

This was posted on the "other" KJ board in response to my post there...

TRANSPONDER
DESCRIPTION
A transponder is located in three of the four wheel
wells of the vehicle to provide the SKREEM with the
location of the tire pressure sensors on the vehicle.
The transponders are located in the left front, right
front and right rear wheel wells. A fourth sensor is
not necessary in the remaining wheel well due to the
process-of-elimination theory. Once the system knows
the location of the first three sensors it assumes the
location of the fourth tire pressure sensor is in the
left rear tire.
OPERATION
Transponders located in three of the four wheel
wells of the vehicle to provide the Wireless Control
Module (WCM) located in the Sentry Key Remote
Entry Module (SRKEEM) with the location of the tire
pressure sensors on the vehicle. The transponders
are located in the left front, right front and right rear
wheel wells. A fourth sensor is not necessary in the
remaining wheel well due to the process-of-elimination
theory. Once the system knows the location of
the first three sensors it assumes the location of the
fourth tire pressure sensor is in the left rear tire.
REMOVAL
FRONT TRANSPONDER
(1) Raise and support the vehicle.
(2) Remove the front part wheel well housing cover
and pull it back toward the tire to gain access to the
transponder.
(3) Remove the mounting nuts (1) for the transponder
(2) from the mounting bracket. (Fig. 33).
(4) Disconnect the electrical connector (3) and
remove the transponder (2) from the vehicle (Fig. 33).
REAR TRANSPONDER
(1) Raise and support the vehicle.
(2) Drill out the rivets (2) for the transponder
mounting bracket (1) (Fig. 34).
(3) Disconnect the electrical connector (3) (Fig. 34).
(4) Pull the transponder (1) with the bracket down
and remove the mounting nuts (2) for the transponder
(1) (Fig. 35).
(5) Remove the transponder (1) from the bracket
(3) (Fig. 35).

I appreciate your efforts, LilRed. If you could get me the wiring info and maybe some diagrams, it would be greatly appreciated. The info above gives me the location, but I need the wiring information (colors, etc.) so I can see if any capped off connectors are for the transponders(triggers). I'll post my findings this weekend.

Hey Scoobybri, heres a pic of the connector and color chart. All transponders seem to have the same series of colors. The pics of their exact location where just cut views and were'nt very descriptive.Keep us all posted on your findings as this is an interesting question.Hope this helps.
