CAC hoses

Where else can I buy the CAC hoses? The one from the Intercooler to the FCV is 97 bucks from Jeep stealership.

Its a dealer part only at present.

Have you checked one of the online Mopar parts houses? I think you are stuck with Mopar unless you want to fab something.

Buy them??? Raise some hell, they are a warranty item. The turbo to intercooler hose was getting very soft from oil contamination, heat, pressure, vibration, etc...by @ 20K miles. I told the tech I was hearing a hissing sound under load from the passenger side but couldn't see any leaks. They wrote it up as oil-rotted and replaced it under warranty. BTW, the replacement hose looks like multi-layer reinforced vynal. I have yet to see it sweat oil.

I just got finished changing out the fuel filter. It went off without a hitch. I was able to do it from above. I sqeaked a pivotting strap wrench next to the filter and got it around the bottom. I went in from the brake MC side. Anyway, I was cleaning and doing some general gawking, and noticed the intercooler hose was sweating. All under the mesh stuff was oil on the outside of the hose. I guess it is saturated and coming out. I go down to the dealer to have em look at it today. I am hoping for the replacement hose.

I've been thinking about just having some stainless tube bent to replace mine. It may be kind of expensive up front but it will be the last set of CAC tube I would need.

You'll still need some sort of flexible transitions.

I just got back from the dealership. I went in there with the attitude that I was going to fight them with the "look, if this were a radiator hose, we would be having this discussion." They took one look at it, then at me wiping the oil off the bottom of it where it goes into the intercooler, and said OK, we'll get you one and it should be in Monday or Tuesday. Great!!! $100 hose for free and acording the RFCRD, it should be the upgraded, muti-walled one.

Yep, the writer asked if it was still under, and I told em it had 22K so no worries. How many miles did you have on yours before it started weeping?

10,000 miles maybe less, and about 13,000 miles they were bad enough to need replacing. I did EHM to prevent further breakdown of the hoses.

I'm going to have to look into the EH thing. Is it too complicated or pricey? I think I understand the EHM, but have a question. The heater hose plugs into the big round CCV thingy, but what do you do with the now, opened end of the OEM hose? Also, I used to have a old Ford truck and it had a hose running down that you could see smoke and fumes coming out of it. It was something likw 1/2 inch. How come it didn't freeze like some of these?

Go to CRD FAQ and look at the install pictures and read the install directions it will really help you. The CAC hose is not part of the coolant system.

The reason it didn't freeze is they were cut on an angle at exit point.

Thanks guy. I know the CAC is isn't part of the coolant system. That was going to be my arguement if they gave me trouble at the dealership. The part failed under warranty. It didn't keep what is inside of it inside.

I know. there are a ton of different places that sell silicone hose links. I used to build turbo kits for the local honda boys and that is what I used.

I took the hose off yesterday and of course the inside was coated with oil. Also the FCV was well lubracated. I droped my nut driver and when I got it I happened to look up and what did I see? Oil comming out of the tube going to the EGR valve. Now that should not be there. What will the excuse be this time?

Ehmehm..EHM! sorry i just had to clear my throat. :lol:

As far as I know a provent will prevent this..and will let you know if your turbo seals are leaking.

One of my engines on the dyno had this same condition for quite a few hours of moderate RPM / high loading where it would drip oil out of the metal tubes for the EGR even though I never had any blowby from the crankcase vent into the CAC hoses. I soon thereafter failed the engine. Solution to the problem? Rebuild the engine - hone the liners to restore the cross-hatch, install new rings (file fit the gaps to tight tolerance of spec), re-seal the entire engine. It now has no oil blowby at all - 0%, even with the factory CCV setup.

Hopefully yours doesn't come to that.
