GM is in no position financially to buy anyone else out anyway. All the american car companies are in deep trouble....especailly GM and Ford.

I read the article. It said the Chairman wasn't going to rule out ANY option. Isn't selling and option?

I would bet that the Chineese will buy Chrysler. Just think of the Dealer network they would then have for their cars.

the chinese are a longshot but the best possibility. But again chrysler is not going to be sold off! Take a look at the investment in new products, and future products!

I guess this depends on how you read into it. To me, it just means "we have a plan, but we aren't going to disclose the details to the public"

They asked him about a sale, but he declined. He said they'd do what they had to, whatever that means.

The "investment" in new products (like the Compass?) is a way to increase the potential sales price of the company as a whole. Any investment spending in future products would be recovered upon the sale to a buyer (if negotiated properly).

The only reason GM would buy Chrysler is if they feel they're not going broke fast enough!

I do like GM's warranty though.

The wife has decided she doesn't want a Honda, so tomorrow is off as far as car shopping. Besides they are calling for snow & freezing rain tomorrow and I am not venturiing out in weather like that to look at any car that is for sure.
