I have my CRD into a dealer now re the F37 recall, so I Cant comment re; how this effects the stalling. BUT, I owned for a number a years, 2 transmission shops. and the symptom to me does seem like the Converter is deflaulting into a lock mode. I assumed the F37 would address this, but from what you folks are saying this may not be true. I would not recomment putting additives into this tranny. ONLY the fluid the manual recommends. Today I work for a global OEM of Transmissions and Axles for Auto, truck, off highway, so I assure you this is a good practice-- trans fluid only.
Does anyone else have a problem with their CRD stalling? Mine stalls a couple times a month when cold, and only occassionaly in the summer. So far, it has always happened within the first few minutes of driving. It is not a gentle stall where the motor just quits, rather it bucks/surges somewhat violently for a second and comes to a sudden stop. Kind of like letting off the clutch of a manual transmission while in gear at a stop. I have had it in to the dealer a couple of times, and of course it will not do it when they have it, and they said that Chrysler told them that they had never heard of this problem before. I had really high hopes that the F37 "recall" would take care of this. I had the full recall done Friday, including the new pump, but today when I went to pull out of the garage it stalled again. I am at a loss as to what to do next. I would like to know if anyone else is having this problem so that I can at least show them that I am not the only one.
Dealer called and said that STAR said to replace the EGR valve. Can a bad EGR valve cause these symptoms? The mentioned something about vacuum pressure.

Dauntless- mine was stalling but after i filled the tranny it went away. Did you check your tranny fluid level? I'm not sure how the egr could do this.

Mine stalls when cold just like when I had the wrong tranny filter in it. F37 completed.
If I takeoff to about 15-20 mph and then come to complete stop it stalls.

mine stalled for the first time today. About five minutes worth of driving in 18deg weather. I'm not sure if it's the cold because we just had a week or so of -10 day and -30 at night and I had no problems. that was two weeks ago and we've had around 20 deg since then. I'm going to a dealer in the morning to see if they know what's going on (probly not) or see if they can give me a deal on a Cummins w/6spd maual :) I've only got 8600 mile so I hope I can get a decent trade in.

I've had the F37 and the shudder and the blah ba blah ba blah. I bought a new vehicle to not worry about this stuff. So much for that

Mine stalled once. Was driving slowly in a parking. I was in 1th gear and when i started to break for the stop sign the converter locked up and i had to break hard to stop the Liberty and the engine stalled. It did it only once and i think i had about 13k-14k on it. Never done it again and last wednesday i had the F37 recall done.

Mine still stalls out just like that a couple times per month. Chrysler finally agreed to replace the tranny pump and the dealer had me bring the car in, only to call me back the next day to say that the pump is on a major back order.
Does anybody know if this pump is specific to the CRD? The backorder is 721 units deep.

The pump is not CRD specific and the shudder/TC clutch lock-up control problem effects other DCX vehicles with the same transmission. The kit with the new pump and transmission cooler packaged together is CRD specific. I know someone with an '05 RAM waiting for a pump replacement too due to the backorder.
