How about if we officially add Nevada to our group? There are a few guys out that way that need a place to call home. We have had members from there in the past and i would love to head that way to wheel in the future.

This was brought up because of this:

Whatcha all think?

It's really tough to get a car group together here in Southern NV. We are so land locked here. We are pretty much 5 hours from any other metro area in any direction. I've seen a million Libbys here in town, but I've only seen one other lifted Libby on the road and zero off-road, lifted or not. The term "mall-rated" seems to ring true here. It's crazy considering how many great places there are to wheel within an hour or two of Vegas.

I'd much rather join an existing group than try to start something from scratch. I've started a car group or two here in Vegas and believe me, I understand how hard it is to 1. get something going and 2. maintain interest in the group. If you would consider bringing the few and proud NV Libby owners into your fold, we sure would appreciate it.

You can Always join our group regardless of where you reside and we will welcome you. NV will end up being one of the KJ WEST states by default if you get a few to join us. Like I said, you are not that far from our events and you are always welcome to come check us out and wheel with us before deciding to join.

Didn't 0311 doc join up with AZ lost, he was from the Vegas area. I know he would respond but he is deployed.

I believe he did. FWIW, I am a member of both KJ WEST and lost AZ and I think KJ WEST still has AZ folks in it's membership. FWIW again, Vegas is still way closer to the Cali runs than to the AZ runs.
The AZ folks are way cooler than the Cali folks but we are closer. J/K, they are equally cool groups!

I think it'd be a great idea to have them as part of west.

Thank you for your consideration, seems like your president has agreed to add Vegas and other Nevada residence to their club. Should be a good match.

I agree! I am looking forward to meeting some of the NV folks. Maybe we should plan a MNG soon? If you guys don't mind the couple hour drive, we could easily do Calico since we know it well and it is a great area to wheel.

sounds good, probably need some boulder bars before that one. I'll let everyone know to check this forum now for local info.

Maybe I'm putting myself out there, but a quick search on youtube makes Calico look a little beyond my comfort level. =) I don't mind desert pinstriping and technical climbs (I bought my Libby for off-road excusions), but those videos look like "body-damage-central" If I need multiple spotters and an hour to move 100ft., I'll pass. Hehe. My Libby's not even 2 months old. It's not a daily driver, but I'd like to give it a few years before I start beating it to death.

This looks fun...

This does not...

Well, it does look fun, just not in my Libby.

Hopefully, there's no requirement for KJ West that one must be "hardcore." I'm sure it's not...but the Calico videos on Youtube are just uh...crazy. I need to buy an old YJ so I can try some of that rock climbing with out fear of crumpling quarter panels.

Scooby, We have no trail level requirements for our members and all are welcome. We often do scenic trails that are easy/moderate and we are always safe and rarely damage our Jeeps beyond a scratch here and there. (even on the hard trails)
You would need a modded rig to do some of the Calico trails and damage is possible even though I've only gotten a little (scratches mainly) on a couple times out of a dozen I have wheeled there. I have seen dozens of KJ's get through Calico w/out a scratch so it is very possible. Regardless, there are some easier trails in Calico and it is a great place to wheel and visit.

We also offer easy/scenic trails at our Big Bear event and we do training runs for our newer members. Don't be afraid....... Trust us....

Oh and besides, would you rather get a trail scratch making memories w/ friends on a trail or have some dimwit hit your door in a parking lot at the store? Gimme some trail rash please!! :D

I did, but I live right on the NV/AZ border. I think I am one of a few members that dont live in the Phx/Tucson metro area, and that is a good 5-6 hr drive still.

We do have a few members in the outer portions of the state, but I agree that for most NV peeps its probably easier/faster to get to most of the Cali events, particularly those in the central California zone.

Scooby... I know what you mean about a million Libbys out here! I take a little snobby pride in having a '04 Limited. The matching fenders...leather...chrome rims....towing package... it all makes me feel that step above. But when it comes to JEEP..... I'm all family!! I wave to ever Libby I see (I'm from TEXAS... we do that sort of thing!) but not one person waves back! I think it's because they are all grocery shoppers and I hope to high heaven I see you off the pavement! I took mine on some random trail off of Blue Diamond road and ended up about an hour and a half later.... driving through the backside of Bonnie Springs and back on to the road! LOVED every stinkin minute of it!! I attacked it with pretty worn stock tires and still commanded respect from the terrain and some high fives from my co-pilot!! I can't wait to get started with some mods and really kill! Hit me up anytime and we can be The VEGAS AUTHORITY on Libby LOST in LAS....
