swr switch on cb

i have a UNIDEN 78 LTW CB RADIO . if i want to set the swr i move the switch to the swr and adjust the swr knobe on the cb rights? also is it ok to talk on the cb when the swr switch is one.

also when i hold down the tx and adjust the swr with the knobe i can make it go down to 1.0 and all the way to the red 4.0

Don't use the radio with a high SWR. You can blow the finals in it. You can't adjust the SWR with the radio. SWR means Standing Wave Ratio. If your SWR is high your radio and antenna are mismatched. Take it somewhere and have someone adjust the antenna.

my swr dose work because if i have a high swr my antenna warning light would turn on

I checked out your radio. You are wrong. On one switch you can CHECK your SWR. The other one is an adjustment so you can check your SWR.
