I was working on my wifes KJ, got the Frankenlift on about 7 months ago, we really like it except for some tire rub. I figured the wheel spacers would help, so I installed them. Now, the tires rub on the inside of the wheel wells, not on the bar anymore. While installing them, I noticed that the bolt on the drivers side swaybar link was missing. Doofuses that installed them prolly didn't even put it back. Oh, and she took it back to the shop a week after the lift to get everything retorqed, and checked out. They said everything looked great.
Anyway, my questions: Are wheel spacers safe on the road? The inst. with them says "Off road only".
Also, is it ok to drive like it is untill I get either a new bolt, or JKS discos?

First thing I would do would be take the jeep back to the shop that did the retorque and tell them you don't believe it ever happened, because if they did, then you wouldn't be missing that bolt right now, and tell them you will watch them retorque everything to make sure it is done this time. And since they obviously didn't do the job right the first or even the second time, they will replace that bolt for the swaybar link, as that is a serious safety hazard, and luckily for them that you found the bolt missing, because if in the event of an evasive manuever you or your wife lost control of the vehicle due to the missing swaybar bolt that they obviously overlooked twice, your lawyer would have a field day with that shop.

Get that bolt replaced asap. It isn't worth waiting for.

Oh, and wheel spacers are safe as long as they are installed properly. If that shop put them on, I would definately inspect them, and ask how much they were torqued and if loctite was used when bolting the spacers to the hubs. Spacers need to be torqued to the specs on the instructions, and atleast blue loctite used when bolting the spacers to the hubs. Then, after atleast 500 of the first miles, take off the wheels, retorque the nuts for the spacers to the hubs, then put the wheels back on. The only time I have ever seen spacers fail was installation error (or most likely laziness). A shop worker just wants to get the job done, so they slap on a part, torque the ever living crap out of it with the air gun without even thinking of checking torque specs, and they weaken the lugs/spacer by over torqueing. Don't know what spacers you used, but I'm sure if they are quality spacers, like spydertrax, JKS or weirdharolds, they will have torque specs and proper installation instructions. You have every right to question the guys that put your jeep together. I worry for you just because of that one swaybar bolt missing even after they said they retorqued everything. I call big time BS on the credibility of that shop.

Oh, in direct answer to your question, yes, spacers are safe as long as installed correctly. The "For Offroad Use Only" is a disclaimer, I put it on all my products as well.

x2...let them know in a nice way that this is a serious issue,and should never happen again in the future.And DON'T wait till later.

Thank you guys. Yeah, I am going back in there. I'm real good at making a scene in a business where they are trying to screw me.
I installed the spacers myself, and torqued them to spec. I also used the loc tite that came with them. They are spydertrax.
Where's the best place to get the JKS discos for my set up?
I'm gonna order them monday.

don't know if it's the best price but, how about direct from jks?

Last I looked 4X4 Rockshop had the best disco prices and free shipping on the item. Someone also posted a way to quiet them down also I believe.
