This is where I mounted my radios. When you pull out the overhead lights. Look about 2" back you will see a cross member. I attached a spacer (About 3/4" aluminum channel) between the headliner and this. Then using sheet metal screws attached the mounting bracket to this spacer.
You will need to pull the headliner down to do this. Pull the trim off the corner posts with a 5.5mm deep socket. The screws are in the grab handles. Then pull the sunvisors off with a torx screwdriver. Be careful with the power cord for the lights in the mirror. There is a plug to unhook these. It is held to the underside (top) of the liner with packing tape.
Under the liner there are also white spacers over the clips holding the sunvisors from swinging. Once the screws are removed these are sitting loose and will fall out when bending down the liner. The overhead lights will also have to come out to access this.
If you look at the passenger side corner post. You will find wire clips; you can easy run your wire loom thru. One of the clips holds RG8X cable perfectly. I ran the power cords up the driver’s side post and the antenna cable and control wires up the passengers.
I have a mobile scanner and a Yeasu 8900 remote head mounted to this area. The main guts of the Yeasu are mounted to the bottom of the driver’s seat. The antennas for both are mounted in the back. By the lift gate glass. see this pick. Sorry I dont have anything on the radios inside.
