well as some of you may know i have torn out my rear end and will not be going to obx run. i will be putting in my power trax no slip locker. many people have said that they are not 5spd friendly but i have yet to hear it from someone that has a 5sp that has had the no slip in there kj. after making many calls to many diffrent venders i still have desided to buy it due to there response of "i have never heard of that with a 5spd" the most that that get is people not installing it right.

If I remember correctly, I think there were two people on the boards that said they had trouble with the Powertrax and a 5-speed. Just do some searching through the forums that relate to this subject...;)

Here you go
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... =powertrax

I installed in in TheChuckleStart's KJ so I know it was installed correctly and his problems where real. broncsrule also mention having a similar problem. And I believe that Clint mentioned somewhere that he had similar issue with one in some other 4x4. Maybe yours will turn out different. Let us know how it goes.

I should go back to the posts and read what the problem was before I comment.......but... its past my bed time (9:00pm est.). So, I think if you had any mech. locker you would have a problem with it in the rain and snow if the clutch was let out a little too fast. It will spin you sideways if you are not careful. It happens with my auto if I am too hard on the pedal.

Wait to you put a true track in the front, and as you drive down the road the wheel pulls one way and than the other because the unit is locking from one side to the other. Its not dangerous, just a weird feeling.

im still not convinced that this is a bad locker for me i cant see spending a grand on a arb and something go wrong. i mean the no slip with be there when you need it and you will never have to doubt it working... like you would something that is air or elc...i mean if this is true then that would mean every no slip locker when set would do the same thing in a 5sp....

I love mine, so go for it! The only thing I really don't like about that it unlocks completely while turning around corners, like it designed to do, but it will not lock up again until you are completely straight for a few feet, not good when turning tight trails, in the mud.

There is a positive about the ARB and that is on-board air. While others are waiting in line at the nearest gas station to air up you will be going inside for a soda and down the road. If and when I go for a locker I think I will have to look at these.

i never thought about that as far as trails and turns that brings up a good point.... so the arb would be locked in 50/50 untill turned off?

ARB locker will give you 100% locking when on and 0% when off. There is no question about "oh crap its a turn in the mud...I gotta go straight and get it to lock again!" Bradon, If you have the money or you can fork up the money, get the ARB.

When I was looking around at lockers, I saw the ARB and it said the compressor for the locker was not built to handle airing up or air tools. You might want to double check this before buying if you decide on the ARB.

Karen, (SP) the trail guide for the LOST Fools Run had ARB's front and rear with a compressor. She let me air my tires up with her compressor and it worked flawless! If you want cheap...get a cadillac air compressor and use that, works just as good and 10x cheaper!
