Ladies and gents, we have enough folks interested in LOST Rockies that we should make this official. There are a few points that need to be addressed.

Fees-
How do you all feel about instituting a yearly fee for people that come out on runs? I am thinking around $15 per year (per family) which would be due on the SECOND run that people come out for (and then on that date for each year going forward). People who just want to tag along would not be charged, but people who show up repeatedly would be.

This $$$ would be used for T-shirts, hats, prizes, etc. It would also help us to keep the website online, up to date, and maintained.

Legal-
This one is not as much of a question so much as a necessity. From now on everyone needs to fill out the hold harmless form before going on runs with LOST Rockies… http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=808

Website-
While we have the domain name and some initial content, we are far from where we need to be. We need people willing to contribute meaningful content like a FAQ section, mod/trail write-ups, and pictures. The website needs to accurately portrait us as a group, provide potential members with information on runs (maybe a section for each state), and who to contact for more info. I am also picturing a section devoted to current members where each person has a small picture posted along with KJ stats and a brief statement. Check out the KJ West website to see what I mean… http://www.lostkjwest.com

Officers-
Should we elect some? I like the casualness of the group as it exists now, but having leaders would add some cohesiveness and direction. First we’d need to go through a nomination process and then find out if the folks nominated are even interested. Also, what positions should we fill? The following come to mind: Pres, VP, Treasurer, and maybe “Website Guru”. Maybe there could be multiple (3) VPs to head up the three states that make up LOST Rockies. Again, I am just throwing out ideas and it’s an open floor for debate.

Right now the most important position is probably “treasurer” and I’ll go ahead and nominate Troy. He’s been very kind to take on this role with regard to the decals and has done a fine job.

Finally, please check out the KJ West bylaws to get a feel for the direction we need to head… http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=805

That’s all I’ve got for now. What do you peeps think? Are there other areas we should focus on? Agree? Disagree?

I completely agree. This is a necessary step in the growth of our club. It will help us become a more cohesive organization. $15/year seems to me to be a very small amount. I like the idea of $24/year prorated for the first year and due the same time for everyone annually. This may help keep the book-keeping simpler. I like the idea of three VP's especially considering the vast amount of acreage our club encompasses.

I second the motion for Troy to be treasurer (if he'll take it).
I nominate Joel for President and Ted for CO VP

All sounds good to me.

I don't mind being treasurer if that's what y'all want. I promise not to embezzle anything unless we get enough $ for my wife and me to take a cruise or something. ;)

I have no problem with annual dues and/or add'l LOST Rockies gear to raise funds. Allows us to do more cool stuff and attract more members.

Sub groups for each state.....i.e. VP for each?

I think the Silverton/Ouray area is a perfect area for our annual run. It is closer for Utah and New Mexico to get to and creates a decent drive for the majority of us in the Denver-Springs area. Might be closer to the Albuqurque folks than Denver.

$15 is good with me.

Tokyo, I addressed the 3 VP thing in the first post. I think it's a good idea.

This all sounds good to me, and honestly I was thinking it myself.

Hey Pete which Ted do you mean? There are a couple of us I think.

If it is for me, I would be willing if it were to be seconded...

And I will second the nomination for Joel as Pres.

Although, I think we should have the officers spread to get more of a feel for the whole group, but then again we do most everything online, so I guess it doesn't matter.
Ted

I guess I should have made that a bit clearer. Yes, I was refering to USAFCOP when I said Ted.

As for speading out the officers, with a VP from each state, I don't think there will be an issue.

I am in for the applicable dues.
I really want some LOST Rockies gear. Shirts and hats would be awesome.

Let's get back on track here.

Could it be possible to do a chat room discussion on this one evening?

That's going to be very difficult for me for at least the next couple of weeks...totally swamped with work.

But I'm sure I won't have any problem with any decisions you all come up with.
