Does anyone know if this tire is a good all around tire? will it handle in the mud, snow, sand, or is just a highway tire that only belongs on a car?

Excellent tire and performs light years better the stock tires. Snow conditions that required 4wd with stock tires are 2wd with the revos. Road noise is minimal and ride is nice. Offroad they perform well in nearly all conditions.

i am looking at a set of highway patrol pull offs, came off of one of their Tahoes, I can get the whole set for 100.00 at a local shop. I havnt laid eyes on the tires yet do they have deep lugs for mud or are they more for the road? I do alot of highway driving but when i go play in the mud, rocks and creeks, i like to have all the traction i need.

One of the Midwest guys has the Revos and they perform as good off- road as my MTRs, even in the mud.

Had a set on my old truck, they went 5 years and over 100,000 miles and did not even show any wear by the time I got rid of the truck. Great set of tires, I will be replacing the Goodyears on the Libby with those.

I'd go with the MTs, but that's just me. The Revo is a good tire, but you can't beat a real offroad tire like MTs....

I was very impressed with the tire up until the last time I went out in muddy conditions. I was with a group of rubicons and cherokees that were all superior to our liberty, but the tires let me down twice that day. I was the only one to get stuck in the red slick clay. We have about 20k miles on the tires and I feel that they have lost there bite. Other than that, they are a good all-around tire.

This is one of the spots where the libby just couldnt get enough traction. Spinning all four tires and sliding backwards down hill is not a good feeling. I've made up the hill many times before when it was dry. There was an unlocked wrangler that had trouble with spinning but he also had mud tires and eventually made it up.

BTW: It's a 1/4 mile rut and its steeper than it looks!

The question for you is what is important.
Superior muddy offroad traction
or
Great offroad all around traction that is quieter

Not owning a set of MTR's I can not say, but i have heard they do not wear very well.

They wear even if you rotate them at least every 6000 miles.

I'm shopping as well and have considered both. Here's the summary of what people seem to think:

They're both good tires, but they're in different categories. If you're going to do a lot of on AND offroad, then the Revos are a great choice and have good manners on-road (especially at that price). If you're making a trail-rig, sure, go with the MT-R's ,but know that with that mud traction comes a little less well-behaved characteristics on-road, probably a little shorter treadlife if used mostly on-road, and are 10 pounds heavier per tire (more rotational mass means somewhat less mpg). The MT-R's are probably a little more durable and can definitely take more tire pressure and have a higher load rating.

Both are well-regarded. Pick the one you like and go drive :D

I have both the Revos and the TrXus MT's. If you do alot of off-roading, the MT's will be better. If not, at 30k miles when you are getting a headache from the on-road humming and vibration of the MT's, you will wish you got the Revo's.

I would have to agree that MT's are the best for offroad. We do more onroad driving than offroad, and I still wanted an agressive tire that would clean out good.I chose Cooper Discover ATR's.You might also take a look at these. They have VERY agressive tread but ride on the road like a fine street tire.Very smooth and quiet.Compare prices and these tires are an excellent alternative for the best of both worlds.

thumbs up, i had MTRs, then switched to BFG ALL terrains, and then switched to revos, they were much better choice than BFGs, in all different situations, quieter, better in show, in rain etc... overall i would not hesitate when purchasing these tires.

Can anyone tell me about a MPG loss/gain/same when switching from the stock tires to the Revo's? I'm thinking of getting them but not if it's going to cost me a lot in terms of MPG's.

I'd love to know the answer for the same stock size (235/70/16) and for the next up which is what I'd like to get (245/70/16.)

Thanks!

I dont know if they are even an option for you but I thought I would chime in.....

I second the vote for Cooper ATR's, I have them and do much more on-road driving then off and I love them. Clean well, ride smooth, grip off-road and havent had any issues when I play in the mud a little.

I got (4) 245-70-16's for $420.00 mounted and out the door and would buy them again
