Well off road they make plenty of difference and currently this is the only disco available...so not a total waste of time. It's just frustrating that they didn't figure this stuff out before they started selling them.

i couldnt find (and i checked everywhere in stupid hawaii) the "thinner" sized nuts....so i attempted with the "thicker" ones...which yeah, proved to be too big and wouldnt let the discos fit.......

That sucks. Most big box stores (Home Depot, Lowes) do not carry them. Usually a small independent or someone like Ace Hardware will have them. Always in the small box dividers with the specialty hardware. You can always grind a regular nut down to a thinner size. I also thought of stacking multiple washers, But question there ability to stay tight.

One of my pins bent not long after installing them. I went to the local Tractor Supply Co. and picked up some heaver duty ones.

yeah, well it would be a no brainer if i were elsewhere, problem with hawaii is there are no Ace, which is down the road from any other place ive ever lived

and tractor store? uh uh ....

wanna send me the pieces ? :-D

I'm glad I don't have to worry about my perfect driving skills failing me as I roll my Jeep and kill innocent bystanders because my ego is so huge that the Jeep can barely contain it.

sorry, just tired of every thread even mentioning sway bars being hijacked by the "Swaybar Avenger"

Ah yes, I typically ignore these statements and thus its true intent escaped me this time. Anyway, I like to wheel with BOTH my swaybars disco'd so his setup wouldn't really do anything but make my Jeep more unsafe on road and less capable off road (great combo).

Yeah, it has put a cramp on my winter wheeling since the TJ is also down (for mods).

BTW with one link missing what happens is that every little bump in the road jerked the wheel out of my hands. Very scary feeling.

I just got my Disco's from 4X4 Rock Shop. I asked if they have had any problems and he said no.

What is the feedback that you get from your suppliers?

I don't want these on if they don't work.

Al

i got mine there too

dont get me / us wrong...theyre a great product, but theyre arent 100% bolt on and trouble free, you have to modify a bit to get it perfect

just like any mod on any car its all different to what you are running...

my set up would make your jeep more capable off road, just like it would anyones. just because your rear axle is flexing all the way up into the wheel well doesnt make more traction. having just the rear works like one of the rock crawler off road swaybars, it helps push down on the opposite front corner

jcphoto: You'd do well to just drop this discussion. You've made your point over and over again. Some disagree, but your continued insertion into this is starting to border on fanatic. Let some people disagree with you and leave it at that.

Are these the disco's you have or are these an improved version?

I think the disco design is faulty. Where it contacts the swaybar there should be some type of curvature.

I finally installed my disconnects and made my own version of eliminating the rub with the sway bar.

First thing I noticed when I compared the old OE swaybar drop links to the new quick disconnect links is that the fully collapsed length of the quick disconnects is one inch longer than the stock OE drop links - NOT 1/2 inch longer as stated in the directions. I don't know if this is a mistake, typo or if there are different OE drop link lengths in different models or model years. Regardless, the new JKS links are 1" longer than my OE drop links. This of course changes the recommended length changes in the direction significantly. I opted to lengthen the JKS links for my application by 1/2" over the collapsed length giving me a link 1/2" longer thayt the stock links. Maybe some of the problems people are having is due to this discrepency?

My mod to the original mods above was to trim down the 2" bolts (grade 8 ) by slightly more than 1/4" (after grinding things smooth) and use 2 - 1/2" flat washers as spacers instead of the thin jamb nut and single 1/2" washer. The washers made a space slightly more than 1/8" between the link nad the swaybar. In addition, I upped the snap pins size to 1/4" for strength. I also completely removed the ABS mounts and smoothed the area as I do not have ABS and therefore they are not needed.

I have no noise that I have noticed so far and there is no noticeable contact or binding.

I have now removed the discos easier to just remove the whole bar, only 6 bolts. (when I have room in the back)
Will try to fit again with the mods sugested, I found that mine will knock even with the standard bar bolted up unless I have everything dead tight.
I also have a 3 1/2" lift and 245/70R17 STTs so the clips get thumped out every now and then, would be prudent to put some safety wires on them to keep the from getting lost. Set up the disco lengths by getting the front end level and then adjusting the lengths till the swaybar would just go onto the discos without too much tension.
