75w-140 SYN for front diff.

ATF+4 is good to use in the tcase.

Same as front for rear or 80w90.. I use 75-140SYN..

The differential lube specifications have changed multiple times since 2002, but you're probably safe using any of them. The 2005 specification for the front is 80W-90 dino lube. I'm probably going to use 75W-140 AMSOIL Severe Gear.

Just got done doing the front and T-case last weekend: I used the 75-140 in the front and some MOPAR ATF+4 in the T-case just like it is supposed to be.

75W-140 synthetic is specified for the front diff of an 02.

NO additive is needed for the front and only needed for the rear if you have a posi or Trac-Lock.

The rear of a 2002 specifies 75W-90 or 75W-140 if towing.

ATF+4 spec fluid for the transfer case & Auto transmission. Amsoils ATF is a Full Synthetic that surpasses ATF+4 specs.

For those with a manual trans, it requires a Synchromesh fluid.

Dang Michael, that is some good tech right there! Is there another link to that in our tech section? If not, would you mind adding a thread for that?

Do you have a factory rear Posi, Trac-Lock?
Let me get you a quote on whatever you need. If you like the quote and you purchase, I will throw in the LS additive free.

Oh and Yes, you should be able to find posi additive at any good parts store. They should be able to point you to it if you ask.

LSD = Limited Slip Differential. The Trac-Loc LSD was the only factory traction aiding device available in the Liberty. You can get the LSD additive at the dealership for sure, although probably marked up.

From Urban dictionary - Posi:
"In hot-rod groups, short for positrac. Positrac was the GM trade name for a differential gear which would lock under severe loading to ensure that both drive wheels were turning. Highly desired in drag racing. The positrac name is now mostly generic in usage, with many racers referring to every locking diff a "posi"."

I consider myself old enough to be "old school" and I just can't stop calling any limited slip diff a posi. I also refer to all lockers as Lockers regardless of brand name. Anyhow, The LSD/Posi addititve that I referred too is what you need for the Factory Posi (Trac-Loc)) 8)
