Automatic Tranny Problem

at idle from the inside, there is a noise, it sounds kind of like a faint coffee maker??
You can feel it thru the t-case lever. it doesn't seem to be shifting any different than it normally does.

any ideas what it might be

has about 51K miles on it 42RLE 231

From what you desribe, I don't think it's the trans. Sometimes the HVAC system makes a noise like that.

yeah, i turned everything off to eliminate that. But i've never felt the HVAC thru the T-case shifter :shock:

is there a way to tell what fluid you have in it?

do you think there might be a damage done if it has the wrong fluid in it and or how long would it take for the ill effects to show?

I had the fluid changed about 3K miles ago, and knowing my luck the place put the wrong fluid in..
