Fill 'em up in Albuquerque...$2.55/gal.

Howdy Eddo and other Albuquerque folks, just made a trip down there and back yesterday. There's a new station on Tramway just a block east of the interstate that had regular for $2.55/gallon. There was a line, but they also had a fellow out directing traffic, so it all went smoothly.

Wish I would have taken a couple of 55 gallon drums with me. It was still $2.97 up here in Farmington yesterday morn. When I got back here in the late afternoon, a few places had dropped to $2.87.

The Farmington Daily Times did a front page story on Sunday about how were getting shafted for gasoline up here...and the next day it drops a dime. Keep those stories coming, Farmington Times!!

I just got off the phone with my mom in Albuquerque, she paid $2.65 this morning, but thats still better than the $2.89 I paid Sunday down here in Phoenix. I still long for the days pre-9/11 when we were seeing gass for $0.99 a gallon :cry:

Oh, and Ed's up in Ohio now, he's no longer in ABQ. too darn bad cuz I'm moving back and he was a cool guy to wheel with...

Well, I'm not in Albuquerque anymore. Had to move. However here in dayton it is down to 2.37 So I guess that is maybe one plus side to the move.

Wow, that's quite a move! I didn't know you had gone away to Ohio...what took you there, if I might ask?

Check Wayne National Forest for some great off-roading. Down around Nelsonville, Ohio (not far from Athens where my Alma Mater is located - Ohio U). I grew up in Lancaster, which is between Columbus and Athens.

gas was that low??? Ahhh, and tomorrow the texas hurricane will have gas prices at $4 a gallon... :evil:

BTW, hi Original Bigfoot, you live in farmington? I was born there. You should come up to albuquerque some time and we can wheel. Are there any good spots out there?

I get down to Albuquerque about three times a month, unfortunately, I am towing a trailer with freezer(s) on board to pick up frozen meat for my home-delivery business. I have seen many roads between Bernalillo and Cuba that I have wanted to explore. Primarily to the west of the highway.

One day, I will have to make a trip just for the fun of it.

You mention you were born here...did you spend any time here after that? If so, then you will already know this part:

As for wheeling around here, there are a lot of oil and gas field roads that run everywhere around here. As remote as you think you are, just then, an oil/gas field truck drives by! If a person wanted to wheel for a living, then being a well-runner would be the job. They have to go check the wells rain or shine, so mudding and off-roading is the norm. Some of the well running trucks are amazingly well built...winches, lifts, tires, etc.

For remote wheeling, I usually go to Utah or Colorado. Not far drives from here. There are some spots around Mexican Hat to Aneth that are pretty nice...I could spend days there at a time. Made some nice drives between Durango and Rico and around La Plata Canyon. Then there is the Silverton area, of course.

Hey Bigfoot, are you talking about the roads that head out toward Cabezon and that area? Just wondering, I think there may be some decent stuff out that way. I'm moving back to Albuquerque and may go check that area out once I get settled in. I also want to go explore out in the Rio Puerco valley; I've been to the edge out by Rio Rancho but never had the time to go down into the valley to see what is there. Anyone in the Albuquerque area, start looking for a red '03 Sport with a red CB antenna on the front left fender cuz that'll be me

About the only time I ride in Rio Rancho is with me atv. Plus I not an R io Puerco expert myself
