Which Winch?

It's time for the upgrades! I've got Al's A-arms ordered, and am getting ready to Frankenlift. Then, a short break to 'recoup', and on to the bumper and winch. Which leads me to two questions:

A: Anyone know the difference between the Warn XD9000i and the WarnTabor 9k?

B: Other than Name, is there an advantage in the Warn over the T-max series?

My understanding is the Tabor is a "budget" line. I would guess it is equivalent to the T-max.
That being said, I have been VERY happy with Warn. I had a problem at EJS with an older 8000lb winch. I went in and talked to the rep at their booth. By time I got home (5 days later) a new winch was on my porch with a call tag to send the broken one back!! Now that is service!!
I have had a 9000i on my Bronco for many trouble free years....And I have USED it!
But, for the Libby, I am considering a t-max due to price and it will not see the use the Bronco does....

Thanks. That's pretty much where I'm standing, at the moment, too. I don't PLAN on using my winch that much. :lol:

However, IF I do, I don't want it failing anytime soon. I've found the Tabor for just over $600, at www.truckaddons.com, and I've also found the T-max for just about the same price, on Amazon. At the moment, I'm flipping a coin. Again, and again, and again.... :wink:

WinchDepot.com has insane pricing and free shipping on Warn winches. I got my M8000 and a free receiver shackle from them. They have the XD9000i for $789.99:

D'OH!!! Guess where T-Max moved their headquarters? Elkhart, IN! (I live about 30 min. away). My next question is.........does T-Max honor the 1 year warranty on Summit winches, or is it only 90 days? If I get the chance to drive by, I'll ask 'em and post. :wink:

There was a Four Wheel Parts Truck Fest near me and they had a 8000lb Warn for something like 390.

I have been running my T-Max for a few years now with absolutely no problems. It has been submerged, pulled trees down, used extensively off-road for pulling out 4-5K weight rigs without issue. It has identical specs on pulling and line speed as the Warn XD9000.

The only problem I had was someone else forcing the engagement lever to far and busting the pin inside. The winch still worked, but the handle wouldn't stay in. Called the headquarters and had replacement parts and instruction in a couple days right to my door.

I think T-Max is giving Warn a good run and for 2/3 the price.

Thanks for the input. I figured that SOMEWHERE out there, someone has used T-max, and would know about the good, the bad and......the ugly. Since Summit Racing seems to be selling T-max, with their own label on them at a reasonable price, then all things being equal, they might be the way to go.

Why couldn't you use a 6500LB winch, it would be lighter and would work fine with a double pull if needed to increase the pulling power.

For less than a hundred more, I'd have enough power not to have to worry as much about the need for double-lining. Besides, c'mon: Who DOESN'T want MORE POWER! :wink:
