I took the wife's CRD this morning to the car wash and had some fun with the torque and I notice as I was pullingh in the drive way that the fuel gauge was just about to come off the full mark an the odo was at 75 miles. Normally that was at about 60 miles when highway driving, but this tank has been all city driving. Things are rally looking up for fuel mileage

On top right of the airbox lid and the plug is pointed toward the front of the vehicle. See the image below.

Probably me. He's been calling you Matt for a while now, and you've been answering. Kinda funny. You're probably like me, just happy not to be called an obscenity.

Im seeing some increase in mileage too, about 1-1.5. But what concerns me a little is that the evic reading is so high. I had the evic for a week now and its conistently displaying ~2 mpg more than Im actually getting. Is that normal?

Hey Endurance, where'd you pick up the EVIC, new/used, and what do ya think; you like?

I bought from a guy in the for sale section, used, out of a 2004 GC. I like it, it just keeps flashing PSI pressure which is really stupid. And the temp doesnt work. So Im looking for a 2005+ KJ evic that does NOT have the PSI system now.

Mine did almost completely stop smoking! Usually if I baby if for a couple of miles and then get on it it would just sling smoke everywhere, not anymore!!

Back to the original topic. I happened to put 135 miles today while driving offroad at 75-80 mph. I vented the tank prior to departure and did the same upon my return. I got 30.6 mpg. This is a 5.6 mpg improvement over my last check in fuel economy on the same trip (same fuel, same distance).

Needles to say, the offroad mod is now permament. I can live with a CEL with such a dramatic improvement in fuel economy. I can't wait until summer diesel is back in season.

Drew

PS We did the ORM when vehicle had a 1/2 of fuel. THe last half of tank fuel lasted much longer than the frist 1/2.

Doing first full tank since the ORM. 115 miles of mixed driving and it's just coming off the peg. :D

I ran 140 miles over the last 2 days and averaged over 30 mpg for the first time. Was getting around 24 mpg doing the same type of highway driving.

What a difference!!!

My fuel gage used to budge after 50-60 miles. It was on full for about 95 miles before it moved off of Full.

This is incredible!

Kinda reminds me of the early days of gasser emissions systems when they cut the emissions by 25% and mileage by 50% and called it progress.

My first long (off-road) trip with the orm had the needle finally come down to F at 125 miles! On the way back it was 110!

I just installed an EVIC and it showed 32mpg cruising on level (off)road at 65mph. 37mpg drafting off a semi. I've yet to see how it corresponds with hand calculated mileage.
