Well as far as the 4.10's you can get the rears for any 8.25(Yukon,US gear, etc),for the front you need to get them from a wrecked 4 banger KJ or the dealer/mopar internet dealer. For the torque converter if you have the 45RFE go to apsprecision.com,for the 42RLE I have no idea who makes on for them.

I think APS actually has a torque converter for the 42RLE now. I don't think the shift kit for the 42RLE makes as much difference as the reprogramming kit for the 45RFE.

Transgo describes the shift kit for the 42RLE as making shifts "shorter and cleaner."

They describe the reprogramming kit for the 45RFE as

"Performance Shifts
Corrects: Soft 1-2. Heavy Throttle Long 2-3
Firmer 4th and Lockup
Couldn't shift like this, till now"

Plus Dieselenthusiest, who has the shift kit for the 42RLE said it made the shifts shorter and cleaner, but it wasn't a big difference. Mine made a big difference in the way it shifts. It shifts like a sport truck.

Cool, thanks for the clarification. I am wondering if I should bother? I will probably still do one of my KJ's just to see how it shakes out.

Still if it makes the tranny shift better(faster=less clutch wear) than the $25-$50 for the 42RLE kit is worth it,it will extend the life of the tranny, every little bit helps in my opinion.

Nope, you have the 42RLE not the 45RFE tranny, besides the kit for the 42RLE is cheaper than the one for the 45RFE.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TRANSGO- ... dZViewItem

I posted that on page 5 and no one said anything about it, so Im not sure if its the right one or not. :?

I got the shift kit installed on 45RFE. Installing the kit was easy, getting to the valve body was another story. After breaking one of the tabs on the 23 pin electrical connector I decided to remove the front drive shaft so I could get a better look at the connector.

I found out the hard way that my Jet Stage 2 chip actually changes the line pressure in the transmission because the resistor that comes with the shift kit does the same thing. With the resistor & the Jet Chip, the 2-3 shift was super hard. Removing the resistor made that stop.

After driving it for a few days now, I can safely say that it is NOT a night a day difference, but it does shift better, especially when you are getting on the gas. Shifts are quicker which is what I guess they mean by firmer. I think I'm going to play with different resistors to try and tweak the line pressure a bit.

Don't hesitate to call their tech support, they are very helpful and seem to know what they are talking about.

Nope, that isn’t the right KIT for the 42RLE. The Shift Kit for the 42RLE can be ordered from Transgo or APS.

The Shift Kit installation was important to me because we are going to keep our Liberty “FOREVER.” :D Anything to prolong the transmission life and tighten up the shifting is worth it. 8) The Transgo Shift Kit for the 42RLE is basically a Correction Kit and intended to shorten the shifts and prolong the transmission life. If you do the work yourself, then you are talking $35 - $40 bucks and approximately 7 quarts of Transmission fluid which I think is totally worth it. I had a performance Transmission Shop install mine, who also installs hundreds of Transgo Shift Kits. The installation cost was an extra $150 dollars. If you plan on trading or selling your Liberty one of these days, then I wouldn’t mess with getting the shift Kit installed. The performance gains are minimal, and who cares about prolonging the life of your transmission if you are planning to sell. Just my opinion, but something to consider for those of you who are still in the decision mode.

The rear gears(8.25) are okay but the front gears(dana30a) are the wrong ones and that company won't take them off due to not being the correct gears. The dana30a has a longer pinion shaft than normal dana30's,have to get the right gears from a DCX dealer or a online DCX dealer(or a wrecked 4 cylinder KJ).

Would you say it's woth the time and money to install it?? Mine should be here wednesday 4/4/07 will be installed on thursday. I have the filters just need to pick up some atf+4. I think i saw on here i need 7qts for the trans. I'm gonna do the xfer case too. Whats that another 2qts? Dont want to buy to much, this stuff is expensive!!

As for you jet chip i read on a dodge forum somewhere some guy had the same problem, he removed the jet chip and installed the resistor and said it shifted way better than using the jet chip. Just a thought if you have time maybe give that a try. I dont have a jet chip so i'll just put the resistor in. I'll update once i install it..

Sorry I am not very well in English, so please can you explain it more for me, what ratio is in a stock Liberty? Do they will make any difference in performance?

Stock gears for most V-6 auto KJ's is 3.73,4-clinders is 4.10's,some of the CRD's(?)/V-6 manuals come with 3.55's(?).I switched from 3.73's to 4.10's just to gain back some lost torque from going to 265's.

I already installed 255 tires, do i'll feel an improvement in torque if I put them?

SS-Virus, after installing numerically higher gears, you should notice an increase in torque regardless of tire size. Check out this page for more information on which gear ratios came in which KJs:
