You'll be coming from Goldsboro, right?

If this direction is out of the way for you (e.g., you have to come 1 North to meet me) then let me know and I'll find another place to meet.

Let's meet in the parking lot of Ocean Stars restaurant? It's just off the 55 right where the 55 and 1 meets. If you're taking the 1 south to get there, stay in the second left-turn lane as you'll be making a right turn VERY shortly after you get off the freeway.

How about 7:00AM in the parking lot? That will give us 2 hours +/- to get to Outpost.

Exit 95 by the way. Don't miss it because the next exit is six miles away ...

The intersection of 55 and US 1 / Highway 64 would be past the McDonald's.
That's still a good intersection with a large parking lot to meet someone. There is also a gas station there too.

Eldorado Outpost is inbetween 2 entrances to Uwharrie and the place you have to get your trail stickers. Did I mention that? It's like $5-7, not much.

I guess I need to call Richard to see if he's fallen off of the face of the earth.

Dean, they are taking the southenly route through 24/27, not out 64 the way you go.

24/27 is a rural route, 2 lane. 64 is a 4 lane rural highway.

24/27 LOOKS more direct, but due to more slowdowns to 35mph, and the like, it is about the same time investment. I'd call 24/27 a "prettier" route to go, too.

y'all have a GREAT time, take LOTS of pictures, and since it is April Fools Day I will believe absolutely NOTHING about the trip without proof. Anyone telling me there was a rollover will be disbelieved without proof!

I don't have any cool picture from today :o

But, I have some stories. First met up with Mike and Wendy in the morning and drove down the lovely 24/27 to meet Chris and Meredith at the Outpost. It really is a nice drive down this way.

We left the Outpost a few minutes before 10:00AM --- if we had waited Mutt would have gotten there and joined up with us. We didn't see Mutt until after our run where he was licking his wounds. Mutt will probably have a write-up on this later, suffice to say it is incredible!

The trails we went on (two of them, will have to check with jeepinmama for the trail names) were nice, but not very tough. There were some big mud holes but unfortunately the mud was .. uh .. rather aromatic -- the smell of nature.

We had lunch by Badin Lake where the view was fantastic. Just as soon as we were done with lunch it started to rain. All that hard work with mud washed away ... :P

The second trail we went on had some interesting obstacles and I took one of the more interesting line and ended up teeter-tottering :) You'll have to check what Chris has to say about it.

Mutt just called us to let us know they are re-welded and back on the road.

Once again, opening day was crowded, but the trails weren't really that crowded once we got back in there. Mrs. Kolesy was the picture snapper so there ought to be some posted on here soon.

Dutch John and Dickie Bell had some good downhill slides. DirtyKJ was really waving a tire when we looked in the rear view on Dickie Bell. I don't know what it looked like but it felt like we were going to set the TJ on its nose through there.

I don't know if DirtyKJ and Kolesy were gone yet or not, but just so y'all know - the orange Blazer that dusted us and the kids out on the road when we were leaving was being towed in with a strap to the Outpost. What goes around comes around!

Looking forward to seeing pics......had a great day and look forward to the next outing!

Chris and Meredith (and Casey) :D

Oh yeah there was a very steep downhill section on Dutch John. I liked that one, though it would be insane to go up. Maybe some day.

Well What can I say..... It was a fantabulous day! Wendy and I met some great people! Bill, Neu (sorry I haven't the slightest how to spell here name  ) and their two kids and dog, and Chris and Meridith and their daughter Casey. I met up with BIll and his family in Apex and rolled out to the outpost. We got some snacks and trail passes and Then Merideth and crew showed up. We aired down and began our day. We started our Adventure off on Rocky Mountain Loop (I believe) and continued up that and merged onto Dutch John. Dutch John was frickin sweet!!! It had a really sweet steep downhill that was kinda in a mini canyon! Would be neat to try going up, like DirtyKJ said. From there we hit falls dam. Then headed back to the outpost for some grub and took it to the lake and ate there. It was nice eating lunch on the dock till the ran ran us into our vehicles! But it only last for a few minutes and it was back to the trails. From the lake we went to Dickie Bell to finish out the day. I believe we hit up Saw mill somewhere in there too? Merideth or chris or Bill feel free to correct on the trails casue Wendy kept track of them th ebest she could. Bill made my heart skip a few beats when we were on a steep down hill on Dickie Bell and he took a "NICE" line down it and next thing you know his right rear is a solid 2.5' off the ground! Man I could have sworn he was about to go over!!! But he quickly handled it with some finese! Over all it was a great run and from the looks of all the rigs at the outpost in the mornng we thought the trails were gonna be swamped but it really wasn't that bad. Definitley will do this place again!!!!!

At the end of the day we met Mutt at the outpost and we just missed him in the morning. He was licking some SERIOUS WOUNDS!!!!!! More of that to come!!!!

Now onto what you came here for!!!!!!! :D :P

First stop in on the trail Yeah natured called 5 minutes into the ride!

Dirty KJ was bringin up the rear and Wendy was trying to snapped shots but.......... It almost looks fake.

*sigh*

Looks like y'all had a good time. thanks for the pictures, Kolesy!

As always, UNF looks like a paved road at this time of the year... I can't wait to see how it looks later in the year again.

Bill, the "canyon" trail is the one we were talking about at your place, where USAFCOP rode right up it with his lockers after everyone slipped and slid and did their best... :)

Man, glad everyone got together... Sorry to hear there was some major issues for someone, though.

Well, there are four lines on Kodak rock, increasing in difficulty from left to right. I was on the third line from the left and darn near made it up. Was bumping it up the ledge when I heard a "Tink", thinking to myself, "Well there goes a JE Real CV." When I looked out the window though, my wheel was at an angle that wasn't natural.

Everybody was great help in supporting me and trying to help get it back together.......

Ran Daniel in both directions before the catastrophe and didn't use any of the bypasses.
