Hey guys. I just moved here from Southern Indiana. I'm now living in Rocky Mount (hometown of Mary Elizabeth Winstead... the actress from Final Destination 3, The Ring 2, Sky High, Grinderhouse, and the next Die Hard where she will be playing Bruce Willis's daughter... Sorry. I work with her Dad at Hospira... LOL)

Anyway, I'm looking for places to Offroad around here and I thought you guys might have some pointers.

I've already hit OBX (even at full tire pressure without issue). There was a Ford Explorer with off road tires stuck and a stock KJ stuck while I was there. The sand was really loose. We were leaving at least 8" ruts... I want to go back this weekend and try it with lowered air pressure.

Are there any other good places for a slightly modified KJ? I have a 2.5" Skyjacker lift and 32" BFG AT K/O's. No limited slip or lockers yet.

On a side note, I have 2 8" subs under the front seats in a custom fiberglass/wood enclosure if anyone would like to see them sometime. They sound very good....

If you have boulder bars, skinks sliders, or CRS rock rails, you would feel much more confident hitting the trails in Uwharrie NF. There are parts of the trails with rocks big enough to do some damage if you came down upon them directly. The trails range from fun relaxing run to carnage (read Mutt's write up on Kodak rock --- the trail where broke his aftermarket A-arm).

Other than that, maybe Tellico?

You can do a lot at UNF from mild to kinda fun... :)

Yes, you would want some protection, ask Dean about me leading a group through a trail that resulted in some trail damage to three individual rides.. I came out unscathed because of my vastly superior driving skills. And my CRSU protection...

I personally would LOVE to see some pictures of the subs!!!

What brought you to the Rocky Mount?

Welcome to the Carolina's!

There is a complete list of legal places to wheel in here somewhere.....

feel free to join up with any of the upcoming rides - the season is literally just beginning so there should be some stuff going on this summer.

Bwaahhaahaaahahaa!! Haa haa!! You're killing me!!
You might have the gear, but I have the mojo. :D
I bet driving that bug has softened your skills.

Welcome to the Carolina L.O.S.T.
Beyond Uwharrie, there are a few other places that are legal.

Welcome!

We just did a Uwharrie run on sunday. It was awesome! Like they said the trails range from mild to wild. I have skids underneath but no rock rails..yet. I came down hard twice on my drivers side rocker panel on sunday out there but to my surprise, no damage. Some Carolina rock shops rails are on my to get list now! Rcoky mount ain't to far from me either, maybe 40 minutes. So you you ever need a hand, give a shout! Some great people here!!!!

Mike

I moved to Rocky Mount for a job. I was targeting the Carolinas for the weather and found a good position with Hospira (we make injectable drugs like Lidocaine, Morphine, etc and no I don't have any samples to give out  ). I'm a supervisor there on 2nd shift.

I do plan on adding some armor, but I don't want to take on anything too tuff until I get it, the winch, the air lockers and the rock rails installed. I will likely do all of that soon though.

You can see the subwoofer buildup and a few photos of my jeep at cardomain
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2512777

But it does not have my new tires on any of the photos. I'll update it soon. They made it look much more aggressive...

I'll be checking for upcoming trail rides...

Hey man, I've wheeled a Liberty at Crozet, can you say the same? Superiority amongst street crawlers, is like honor amongst thieves.

Mutt, don't get defensive... I am a notorious shitgiver....

That being said, I was the first Liberty to do URE, the first Liberty to go through Tellico.. I wheeled my Liberty hard and often.

Party on.
