those trucks are super nice, but how trailworthy are they really?
with the low sidewall tires and the vehicle all jacked up, i can see how those wouldnt fit on most of the trails that i have been on with the liberty.

maybe in a big mud pit or a wide open rock quarry, but trail running? not sure about that. could be wrong though. ive never ran a truck that big before.

The reason we use 16" rims for offroading, that gives you more sidewall since we cannot fit 35" tires on our Jeeps. If we could fit bigger tires, then we could use bigger rims.

Those trucks wouldnt go as many places as you think they would.

bigger offroad rig equals more lift and or tire clearance, which allows for bigger rims.

:D

I know they're not ultimate offroad machines, just trying to get some of you guys to see things from a different perspective. Would I ever put anything over 17" on a liberty, nope.

right on.. dont get ME wrong, i love those jacked up trucks with 12 + inches of lift and 20 inch rims with nitto mud grapplers on them. that rim / tire combo is super sweet.

but the trailworthiness is questionable at best, i would like to see those trucks go through any of the trails out in d.boone natl forest in ky...

Yeah, the arn't made for a trail that's for sure...too big. If you want a true offroad vehicle jeeps are the way to go. These guys just run around at pismo beach on the dunes and show their trucks. Just trying to end the 'offroad means 16 cragers' and 'big chrome rims are for donks' stereotype that seems to be prevalent. Maybe for Jeepers smaller rims work well, but there are other expectations for different offroad vehicles.

Yes these guys most definetly aren't as trail ready as us but I bet he could make it straight to the top of that mountain and never let off of the gas. That in it's own right would be freakin' Awesome!

I'd definetly own one if I had the money to do so. Although it would take a back seat to my KJ!

big rim/short sidewall = stupid and juvenile

dorks that put those on their vehicle have no clue that they frequently weigh 30 to 40 lbs more than a normal sized rim. and never even think twice about the negative affects it has on steering response and braking.

look at me! im cool, i like feeling cigarette butts in the road and cranking my radio to hear it over the tires roaring.

i love when there are HUGE potholes, always cheers me up knowing some ditz is gunna ruin his rim and tire in it. LOL
That's the most ignorant comment I've heard on this site. First of all, my 20" rims on my old truck didn't weigh 40 lbs. in total. There wasn't a negative effect on steering response nor braking, both were quite better because of the grippy tires. Also, unless your running a 35 series tire you won't bend anything. Most quality bigger wheels are billet, which in most cases weighs less than any stock alloy. You can't stereotype a whole group by a stupid loud stereo. If you want to be fair, I could stereo type you as someone ignorant because of "ditz".

Do you really think either of these trucks are owned by kids? I know all of them, and they arn't:

Regardless, I think that big rims don't fit on a liberty. Just because you can't see beyond your dense skull, doesn't mean something is wrong or stupid.
yes those trucks with big honkin rims look stupid as hell. you should be as embarassed as the rest of the dorks should be that drive around like that.

and apparently, if YOUR information is more accurate, which i doubt, then yes i am ignorant on this subject (since i know what the word ignorant means), compared to you, on this one thing.

if only we could all reverse the big huge rim trend, god you guys make cars look like CRAP.

LOOKS LIKE CRAP on those rods and that chevy truck, and every thing else. go away.

BTW i appologize to everyone that ive pissed off on this forum. it happens, i will continue to say what i think. thank you to those responsible for us being able to do that. especially since im one of them.

trendy=weak and submissive.

i dont blame you, its not your fault, its the way you were trained by the same fear spreading probaganda that the rest of you watch all the time. i dont choose to participate in either.

Men, Let's remember what this thread was about. Seeing pictures of a KJ with 18" rims. I think that got covered in the 1st couple of posts. If you have something to add to this conversation about a KJ with 18" rims on it, please feel free to. If this is going to keep turning into a bash festival, I will clean it up and lock it. Your call.

Let's see. Where did I put that.... Here it is.

-------

There are several reasons why threads get deleted or closed.

This is and always has been a family oriented forum.
Any thread that does not contain work safe content will be deleted. Keep all threads PG in content such as language, topic, pictures and video. If your thread gets deleted with the notification “Inappropriate Material” then do not post it again because we do not allow it here.

Next major reason a thread gets closed is because it has turned into a flame fest where there is a lot of attacking going on. Sometimes a moderator will warn you before closing it and sometimes they will just close or delete it. First and foremost this is a Jeep forum and we will not spend the time to clean up the General Discussion forum. Moderate yourself. If there is a debate and a user starts attacking, then report them and do not respond to their attacks. If you participate even to only defend yourself you are part of the problem and are just as guilty. And, if a thread starts to turn into attacks we will not clean it up, it will be closed or deleted at once.

Just like in a real life one bad apple can ruin the whole bunch. We don’t have the time or want to try to stop flame fests. If you want to have civilized debates then do so but once it gets uncivilized expect it to get closed or deleted. This is your only warning. If you participate in off-topic bickering, slander or harassment in any of the forums you will be banned from lostkjs.com.

If a thread is closed or deleted do not post about it again. We closed or deleted it for a reason and it is not up for arguing.

If you have an questions, please contact one of the Admin.

Actually thought about buying that so I would have something to go to the mall in!
While I would never run 18/20s on a Jeep, they do have there place and I admire anyone that takes a vehicle and makes it their own. It may not be what I am into but if they are I say go for it! If every one drove a 1947 Whippet it would be a very boring world

I'm think the one with the 255/55R18's and the 5 spoke 18X8.5's is my favorite among the Liberties I've seen with lower than 65 profile tires. I seriously thought about getting a set for running around in the summer and the track when I was racing before I blew up the race motor. I've got 2005 Limited 17x7.5's with 245/65R17 Destination AT's right now. I like the combo alot. They're not 18" or over, but I think they really fit the pre-lowered Libby really well. They handle, and ride great on the road, and since the worst my Liberty sees are gravel roads out at the Sportsmans League, and some snowy mountain roads, I never have needed anything more than the FT 4WD with them.

I actually kinda like the Startech one, other than the wannabe SRT8 front bumper. Something about it just doesnt seem right. As for the rest, I'll stick with 16's. lol.
