I have my eye on the air lockers too so I was just wondering. I just like the idea of "when I'm locked I'm locked and when I'm not I'm not".

i would spend the extra on the air locker due to it being the easyest to drive everyday because when it is not set the kj will drive like an open rear. plus if you are out on a trail and making a sharp turn in the mud the no slip will cut out cuz you are turning

But if your foot is in the throttle, it will lock up.

Thats correct too. I've come to the conclusion you could sneeze and since the driveline is so "short" it thinks its turning and engages/disengages at low speeds off the gas pedal. Does it in uneven terrain too. Still a monster even with its behavior.

Do you folks notice more pops and stuff on the trail??

My 2002 auto tranny is a diff model too, That might have something to do with it. It always did shift hard even before my powertrax.

Again, I was just wondering how the 8.25 axle/auto tranny behaved for everyone else before I choose between ARB, Tru-trac, or putting no-slip in
after I do an axle swap.

Thanks for the feedback.

The ARB is a lot stronger than the powertrax. This is that it has 3 gears tied down to the rotational part of the differential where the stock only has 2 (hence the powertrax only has 2).

However, the ARB is more prone to get more stress since it is a manual locker and it is also more complicated to use offroad. The instruction booklet gives much more off road advice than the no-slip for this reason.

I have both, but I am currently waiting to replace my no-slip with my ARB. If it weren't for the fact that the no-slip doesn't like my 5-speed manual it would have stayed in. It works great when I don't shift and seems almost perfect.

If you have the arb locker, where do you put the compressor? Can you just stick it under the hood like some people have? If you do that, do you just run a hose from there to the locker? I'd kind of like to understand al ittle better since I'm in the market for a locker, but for my medium off-roading, it sounds like the powertrax is my best bet.

Take it easy ya'll,

ADAM

The ARB has to be turned on and off during off road use. You really only want to have it on during point where you will lose traction if you are not locked. Otherwise you put undue stress on your axle and locker.

You put the compressor in the engine compartment or you could put it in the passenger compartment and then you run the lines through the car however you want to the rear for the compressor. The biggest problem I am having is where am I going to put the switch for the compressor and locker.
