Check out this ariticle/pic from Yahoo news. While the article has nothing to do with diesel fuel in particual, it irks me that it's so much cheaper than regular dino! I'm paying premium gas prices here in UT and when I traveled to AZ. What's so special about Los Angeles????

I don't know, but I love how Diesel is cheaper than gas. :)

I was noticing a month ago that the prices were tightening up and gas prices were going up faster than diesel.

Re looked at my post.........
Clarification:
I'm paying at or above what premium gas costs for my diesel fuel here in Utah and also in the four corner states(AZ, CO, NM, UT).

This is one of the 1st times in 5 years where I saw diesel for much less then regular dino fuel.

Just wondering....

Well, when gas goes over $3, diesel starts to become cheaper than even regular, I saw this last year.

The gap is getting closer here. UL is 2.89 and diesel is 3.17

Yes, It drives me NUTS that we pay MORE for diesel then premium!!!! Around January diesel dropped just below premium, but the last month or so has jumped back up....
When I bought my PSD 4 years ago, diesel averaged $.20 a gallon cheaper then regular unleaded!!
Oh well, the way I see it is, if we bought a gasser KJ, we would have to run premium, so diesel is about the same $$, we make it back on the back end....and get to run B20....

WOW! You guys are paying some crazy rates for diesel! I just filled up last week at $2.69/gallon. I think it's up to $2.72 this week though. Diesel is priced somewhere around mid-grade unleaded around me.

What KJ takes premium anything? Right, they don't...

I know it's not for everyone, but...

I've been running used oil (WVO in the form of partially hydrogenated cooking oil from a local pizza chain) for coming up on a year now, in a Cummins diesel (cf Dodge Pickups). I use a blend invented by a fellow in Europe (Schur Ecofuel): 80%WVO, 15%RUG (unleaded), 5% IPA (isopropyl alcohol). Others I know use something like it: 85%WVO, 10% Kerosene, 5% RUG. Both use Power Service (white jug/winter blend) to boost Cetane and reduce gelling at cooler temps.

In our 'Sub, I've run just fine this winter at 50% (50% blend, 50% #2 ULSD) with overnight temps in the 15F-19F range. I've run up to 100% when it's warm, last summer/fall. The Cummins is pretty forgiving.

On the CRD, I get a little stumble at 55MPH. It got better (hard to tell if it's there any more) with the ORM (!) I'm going to check and see if perhaps it's just an air leak associated with pulling the thicker fuel through the fuel filter - I hear the filter setup has a congenital weakness...

Anyhow, the blended fuel ends up costing me just under $0.70/gal with the additives. So, in the winter the 50-50 ends up at $1.85 or so (@3/gal for #2).

Better than a jab with that sharp stick...

Mark
