I went through with the lemon law and my crd is gone. I'm going to miss the mileage, but not the trips to the dealership.

Sorry to hear your not going to be joining us here. :( Happy to hear that you had a successful lemon law experience. 8) I'm sure that some of us would be interested in some of the details if you get a chance to summarize them.

1. State of purchase/lemon law action
2. Time involved to come to resolution
3. Types of persistent problems
4. Miles on the odometer
5. % of the MSRP value given/trade towards new purchase
6. Basic terms of the remedy
7. Anything you think might be helpful for others who consider this option

I don't know about every one else, but these "got ride of the CRD" threads once a week are getting old. It's not so much the vehicle it's the dealer trying to fix them.

Unfortunately, the dealer generally is told what steps to take as directed by STAR; in a nutshell, I don't think D/C even knows what the "true" fix is for the certain number of problematic CRD's that are out there. D/C just seems to be offering temporary band-aid patches most of the time.

I don't know about every one else, but these "got rid of the CRD" threads once a week are getting old. It's not so much the vehicle it's the dealer trying to fix them.

The best thing about a forum...is that you can skip reading a thread if you want to. The other thing is that every experience is a little different and as long as every other thread is not repetitive, they are welcome to post thier own personal experiences. 8)

I would agree up to the point where someone has a bad experience and then gets on every thread to tell everyone what a piece our CRD's are.

I agree. It may be helpful to hear the bad so that we can all learn from it. After all, it may happen to us some day. But some folks try to persuade others that ALL CRD's are crap and they should run, don't walk to the nearest dealer to unload the thing. I don't need to hear that all the time and I don't believe it is helpful to the forum.

I've also noticed that most of the people that have major problems with their CRD have also failed to install the Window Decals from Darby. Wierd :roll:

I agree with you BVCRD. There are some that would have an ax to grind and they find a way to grind it every where they can -- they must be pretty angry about it to do that. :( They tend to be ones who have been on for a short period and have a high number of posts. However, with 27 posts, I do not think it would be fair to infer that talstar is that sort of member. As he leaves the forum, he doesn't need to be marginalized. Like he said, he liked the CRD, but not the familiarity with the service manager.

What is the harm in him sharing the information? :? There seems to be a bit of pressure for him to back off. :shock: I see the opportunity for him to illumine what is involved in such an option so that others on the forum are reasonably well informed.

I too am encouraged by the number of new people joining the forum each week too. :P This says that we have a high number of folks interested in the CRD. And if it becomes necessary to pursuade DCX to act on making things right with the CRD, there will be people who are engaged on the issues. Besides, there are a lot of smart folks on this forum and I for one have learned a great deal. :roll:

If you get run through the wringer enough times you will begin to understand.

Had a profound thorugh today, actually went over 600 miles already in the '07 Silverado and it didn't need any $7/qt motor oil and only been back to the dealer for mud flaps (OK, have to admit the mud flaps were on back-order for 3 days). First tank of gas pulled 18.9 mpg out of a 5.3L V-8 4wd compared to 22 mpg that I was getting from the CRD (along with the ULSD price premium). Not missing the CRD in the slightest.

After my dealer struggled a little with the torque converter recall, I aked him if he really wanted me to bring it there for service, since it took him three days, and I drove a demo Ford Fusion that he supplied. (nice car, BTW) I just wanted an honest answer, and asked the question with sincerity.

He replied that my CRD was the only one that they service, but his techs need a good challenge now and then, and have to learn that new automotive ideas and technology will keep coming. Besides, he said, they like to see something a little different now and then.

In other words, if I'll be patient with him, they'll be patient with me. I grew up around diesel engines on the farm, and understand that they can sometimes be problematic. But nothing will repace a tractor on the farm, and as far as I know, there isn't anything else on the market that has the ability to tow 5000# and get 25+ mpg while commuting to work.

Agreed, after awhile it gets to a point that you just cannot control yourself, I can completely understand how people get to that point because I am the same way with VW.

If anyone ever posts about VW I just cannot help myself, my revulsion comes into play.
(VW torments my soul, everything from push starting a van, freezing going downhill, tracking down electrical gremlins a eurovan, replacing transmissions and window regulators multiple times)
So after a certain point you become so frustrated that it becomes some kind of vendetta, its really quite sickening.

You hit the nail on the head.

I'm a big guy at 6'5" 235lbs. Little tiny econo boxes don't fit me well. A pickup is a waste, because I don't haul things. I do, however, tow a trailer on occasions. So, I wanted a roomy, 4 door vehicle that will tow with ease, yet gets decent fuel mileage.

I also LOVE torquey motors, in particular diesel motors. I don't often find myself doing 100mph, but I sit in a lot of stop and go traffic on my way to and from work. I live in Tennessee, so there are hills all around. I love the size of the Liberty. Small enough to be easy to park, but big enough to be comfortable.

There isn't another vehicle out there that compares with the CRD. I've owned mine for 4 days, so I'm not CRD guru. But all the recalls have been done, and it runs and drives great.

Not to Hijack, but chad where are you at in Nashville? I am in Hillsboro Village. Had the CRD since last August and I love it when its working, just wish it had a little more room on the inside.
