Just wondering if anyone has heard of this concept / invention. A friend was telling me about a fuel cell that superheats the fuel and essentially vaporizes it immediately prior to injection into the cylinder. Apparently the individual that invented this is obtaining mileage of over 100mpg!? Outrageous, I know - this is why my skepticism meter pegged as soon as he said it. I've searched around online but cannot find anything on it. Does anyone know what this is all about, or is it just another hoax?

Expanding the fuel too much before ignition will only reduce your fuel to air mixture = loss of power, and a reason for all of the "cold air" type intakes on the market designed to increase the fuel air density and produce more hp and torque.

Actually EOD-KJ, I am extremely anal about my gas mileage. Ever since it dropped when the price peaked at over $3/gallon, I got P/O'd at the petroleum companies, and am determined to stick it to 'em. I'm not giving up my KJ though! I always try to be ahead of the curve, that's why I'm trying different things.

i know what you mean....regular is at like 2.89 (on base) to 3.30 out in honolulu (most expensive part of hawaii)

when i first got to hawaii it was 2.20, and THAT was high for the country

hawaii gas prices rival NYC...it sucks

hows it up where you are

In Santa Cruz, Ca. yesterday, 87 was $3.31/ gal :( , and in Los Gatos (expensive, rich town down the highway) two days ago, 91 went for $3.99/gal !! Grumble, mumble, but I love my KJ... only wish I could lean the mix out a bit. At Reno two weeks ago, the high altitude leaned it out and the mileage went up without a noticable loss in power. Now back at sea level, she is more hungry again....

One of my drivers was obsessed about a similar device (can't remember the name of the top of my head). They had this whole website with (supposed) customer reviews, etc. They were selling it for several hundred dollars.
Although I tried to talk him out of it, he went ahead and sent them the money.
He never recevied anything.

the fuel heating devices were somewhat effective sometimes on carbureted engines if they had a fuel atomization problem. they dont seem to help fuel injected ones.

87 has been $3.37 here for a few weeks
