I get about one hundred mile per 1/4 on the gauge. 200 miles for half tank then from half way to empty, it seems to go faster. I always fill up at about a 1/4 tank and that's about 300 miles, slightly more or less depending on weather and idialing. My miles per gallon has seemed to lessen lately, I was always getting 20 to 21 mpg now it's 18 to 19.5.
10,000 mile on my 06. I thought I was going to get better fuel mileage as the engine broke in, but it seems to have gotten worse. Mostly in town driving.

I think MPG has to do with several factors. Temp, fuel quality, how clean sensors are (related to fuel quality), terrain, driving style, etc.

I got 21mpg my first tank, and 24 second tank. The biggest difference is the second tank was mostly interstate driving at 70+ mph.

Unless you drive at a steady 60-65mph, for nearly the entire tank, I don't see how you'd get anywhere near 30mpg. EPA estimate is 27mpg, and that's always as stretch as they drive around at 55mph or something crazy like that.

It's best to keep in mind that this is a heavy vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick. It's 4x4 as well, even in 2wd, the transfer case saps some power. Couple that with the fact that diesels don't reach peak efficiency unless they are fully warmed up, so if you do short trips, your mileage will take a hit (my drive to work is only 13 miles each way).

Before buying my CRD, I had a 2002 PT Cruiser. I got about 20mpg with mixed driving. The best I ever got out of it was 26mpg on a 4 hour road trip on the interstate with the cruise set on 70. It was WAY underpowered, sucked gas, and was basically a toad of a car. The CRD gets about the same (or better) fuel mileage as my PT, has more room (so it seems), tows 5000lbs (versus 1000), is 4WD, and is in all areas a much "cooler" car than the PT, which I thought was a little feminine for my tastes, but I bought it cheap, so that's why I drove it.

The best I got was 31 mpg on a highway trip. We were never over 65 mph and had few towns to coast through. I think there was a tailwind andd we were going down in elevation although you couldn't tell. It looked flat but we were loosing 10 feet per miles.

My wife has made five trips on what was almost a full tank; one 30 miles, 3 @ over 50, and one over 70 (it's that far to town - so it doesn't count the running around while there). Her tank is still above 1/2.

That seems to fall into the (at least) 25MPG-ish ("wet finger") category.

When my wife starts the Jeep, the EVIC immediately plummets to 12mpg in preparation.

Well, 31mpg is possible with a tail wind, downhill, at granny pace. :)

I bet I could do better than that if I pushed the CRD off a long cliff. LOL! :P

We use that power service stuff in the white bottle, Lucas brand cleaner every few tanks. My wife drives like a little old lady. Were averaging about 275-325 a tank. I can't stand my CRD. DCX has had enough time to respond we just filed for court this week.

Well, conditions were good for the best performance for sure. I never speed. If it says 65, that's what I go. I just don't break the law. I dought that DCX got 27 mpg at the test track doing 75 or 80. Folks that drive aggresively and speed can't hope for 30.

The CRD is to tow my trailer with a couple of bikes, extra fuel, tools, pop up tent, etc....so I get my need for speed a different way than trying to sport a 4x4 SUV.

Latest MPG report: Thanks to my new MAF sensor from Saline Dodge....

My latest tank gave me 22MPG.

I'm happy. :)

(NO, I am not doing that crazy "ORM" people are speaking of. If my CEL comes on, I want it to mean something, not just because I unplugged something...)

I'm with you except is that mileage report based on city only driving? I would be disappointed if I only got 22 mpg.

No, it's a mix and considering how I drive, that's great.

(The way I drive is somewhat required. You'd know what I mean if you've ever had to drive in the Detroit area.)

Take these two roads for example. I-696 - My driver's ed teacher even told me to speed on here. Minimum speed is 75MPH. Anything under that, you're getting run over. Possibly a few bird flips and curse words. My mother is afraid to drive on this particular stretch of freeway.

M-102, better known as 8 Mile road. Speed limit 40MPH. I travel at 50MPH and you better not take off too slow at red lights...
