Hey KY, could you possibly post a pic of the bottom side of your ProFinish hood? I am interested to see how the ducting to your filter is set up. Does it go to the center of the hood or does it funnel it to the stock filter area? Other pics of your underhood would be sweet too :D

The air is ducted to dump right above an FIPK. The opening on mine is about 4"X5". The support bar has been bent a little to make the filter sit higher and closer to the opening. I can't find a picture of the hole in the underside of the hood. I'll need to take another. Here are a couple pics I do have though. Sorry 56k'rs.

Nitrous selenoids, purge, fuel pressure safety, and relay.

Nitrous Controls: Bottle opener on right. Purge in center. Down left bottle warmer. Up left armed.

With the N2O, and leaving the spare and skid plates on, with me weighing 200 lbs, I can get a 14.1 out of it at a rich 11:1 afr. I hardly ever use the N2O anymore because of the risk of blowing the motor every time it hits 3rd though, even running that rich. Over 335 hp and 400 lbft of torque is a seriously wild ride in a Libby though.

Well, my phone isn't taking very good pictures today, but here is the intake:

And here is the opening in the hood right above the cone filter:

You're welcome. Lots of people have been asking the same question. On the 1st hood Terry did, the opening was smaller, and positioned right above the intake if you remove the snorkel. He had plans of making it into a true ram-air, but I was the only person that bought one out of the dozens who said they definately wanted one. They actually painted the hood, installed it, and installed the N2O system in 3 days while working on other projects. You could still make it a true ram-air, or you can make some simple adjustments if you have a cone setup like I did. The difference from the hood is suprising. The pictures just don't do it justice. It actually attracts people into the office to ask questions that see it parked in the front parking lot. Any time I go in for recalls, everyone at the dealership is all over it. It really looks a lot more aggressive. I really don't like the front end of the Liberty except the one's with the flat hood. I'm actually thinking about doing a Rusty's lift, 1" wheel spacers, and some 245/70R17 Wrangler Silent Armors. Maybe this brush guard too. Looks like it would fit exactly.

KY Liberty, how would you make it a true ram-air hood?

You would have to fab up a way to seal the intake around the opening in the bottom of the hood when closed.

That a shame that he didn't continue making this version, it sounds like exactly what i've been looking for....more air but a little less aggressive looking.

btw, thanks for posting the pics KYLiberty, i was also curious about what the underside of your hood looked.

Here's his first one. It's the same hood. just the opening in the bottom is different.

They are the switches available from Nitrous Express. Fit where the ash tray was perfectly. Looks stock.

Without the N2O, it is in the high 6's. Right with the GC or Ram 5.7's for a 0-60 run. If I launch it, I can get them by a length or two. Of course, they're a good half second faster in the quarter. With the silly juice and a good launch, it's 60' is just over 2 seconds. The dragstrip slips don't have a 0-60 mph listing on it, but I would guess it would be in the high 5's with the N2O. I need to get it out to the strip with the notebook hooked up to run it, and some runs on the dyno before the headers and cams upgrade for the before and after comparisons, and tuning purposes. Need to wait a little while to make sure it's on the summer mix gas because I lose a couple mpg on the winter mix here, and don't make as much power. I'm also way to busy with work.

I would think that a cross between the Renagade flat hood and my hood, could be really good looking, but making a new mold is expensive and he would probably want at least a dozen or two to pre-order. The hood seems to look more agressive on certain colors than others also.

Not a high 2 second 60 ft, less than 2.1 seconds with a decent launch. That's launching at just over 2500 rpm in 2 wd, with a limited slip, with the RPM window switch set at 2900-5600, skid plates and spare tire still on it, and my 200 lb amateur butt in the seat. The supension actually works pretty well right now. It shifts the weight back, and squats down in the rear enough to make it hook up pretty well with just a set of 245's.

ya i gues i just misread your post. 2.1 60fts are defintly decent for street tires.

i think you are right, it would work well with the original lines of the renegade....probably couldn't find a dozen renegade owners interested to make it happen.

Taking 4 full seconds off a stock KJs 0-60 time is pretty impressive. If i get half that kind of improvement when all is said and done with my mods i'll be pretty happy.
