.................and NO, I didn't trade in the CRD. No reason to. Basically, it will be my son's ride in a year or so. I know, poor gas mileage but I have owned a 2002, and a 1997 so knew what we were in for. Just needed some sort of truck and like the Ford.

I am the lucky one. After our first 2 sons died soon after birth, number 3 has been wonderful. He is a 4.0 GPA student and just the nicest kid you could imagine. He just got his first job working in a restaurant for summer money. He starts high school next year and I wanted him in a safe rig. No go fast car like he wanted but the Ranger was his second choice.

The trick is to get them a go fast car that always needs work, that way he can only go fast some of the time, the rest of the time he spends working on it.

Grr.

Yea, that was the plan. It does have the jump seats in the super cab, but I don't see many football players piling back there. I am hoping just my son and his honey in the truck.

I had an extra cab ford ranger in high school and through college.. you'd be suprised how many people you can cram in there.. I sold it for my CRD. hated to see it go, but i needed something that would pull and for people hauling. I got out of driving on a lot of trips with friends because they all hated the extra cab jump seats...that should save your son some money to make up for the lower mileage.
