So, coming from a trip this morning (about 60 miles each wa), the libby stopped wanting to accelerate over about 65, so a floored it. It went a little faster, but then topped out and not go any faster. when I WOTed the accelerator, the tranny would downshift, but I didn't go any faster. I started actually slowing down on a slight uphill grade, and went below 55, so I pulled off the interstate and took surface streets the rest of the way home.

The engine sounds fine, it just doesn't appear to be getting any fuel past a certain point. Probably relevant is that I filled up yesterday at a fleet fuel dealer that had JUST had a delivery to the storage tank that I used. They were filtering the fuel before I got it... but.... how long does it take for sediment to settle down after filling one of those tanks?

Should I assume that the fuel filter is clogged? Assuming so, how can I confirm and is there any way to get any more service out of it before the dealer opens in the AM for a replacement?

Thanks.
Dan

I get a delivery schedual from where I buy fuel and try to hit it at least 2 days after delivery. Prime and bleed your system and see if that takes care of it. Also, check your CAC hose clamps to rule out a turbo leak which would make it doggy. If none of those work, it is likely that you have a fuel delivery problem. Might indeed be filter time.

Hmmm, I was fine all the way up and half of the way back, so I'm guessing that points away from a bleed, but I'll check that and see if anything's awry. As for the hoses, I just cleaned my Map and the entire intake side of the turbo 2 weeks ago and re-clamped everything ( to the correct torque, not over-tightened). I suppose the fuel filter is the most likely candidate at this point. Does anyone likely to be open on a Sunday carry them?

Dan

This would not be the "limp mode" would it? It sounds like what mine does in "limp mode"

Definitely sounds like fuel filter time.

Exactly the way mine did on the first bad tank of fuel/clogged filter. Ran fine for the first 80 or so miles after filling up, then performance started degrading just like you mentioned, with the added kicker if I tried giving it too much throttle it would starve and kill the engine. Got to the point you couldn't even put it in Drive and try to move it without killing it.

It's still driving okay, just takes about 30 seconds to get up to speed (VERY low torque). I'm thinking of doing the CAT filter conversion anyway and I have another vehicle I can drive. Is it worth getting a mopar replacement or should I just order the kit from Greg?

In the long run, IMO, you'd be better off getting Greg's kit and converting over to a Cat filter. Much better filter, and here locally they're only 12 bucks and change from the Cat service center - mass produced and in widespread use on many thousands of vehicles.
