Nice. I plan on doing that eventually. Let us know how it affects heat/mpg/etc...

Very Cool!! 8) I am seriously considering getting some of those. Are those the Large or Medium ones? I'd like to see some under-hood pics as well. Did you have to cut the cross-members or did you just cut over them? Thanks!

either rusty's or rockyroad outfitters sells those for the liberty, maybe $150/set, cant remember... they say it dissipates 25% of the underhood heat by pulling it out from under the hood..

definitely like that and will be adding that to the list of improvements.

Dje Ryu:
I didn't notice any defernet in mpg, but it is really nice looking, but I feel the engine is running coler now.

Jeep4me99:
I removed the firepad for now, as I'm waiting for a new clips, but I'll give you the picture of the final result after I finished.

chetos:
Me too :P

SavageUrge:
They are medium size, I cut the cross also, but you could cut only the opper sheet only, I'll show you some pictures after I finish.

gone_jeepin:
They are functional, you have to cut the hood.

cowdogg:
Thanks, no christmass, but today is my brother wedding, so we put some lights over the house 8)

jasonk:
I bought them from http://www.rocky-road.com/kjlouver.html

Thanks :)

OK, I have a stupid question. Looking at the video, do you get visual distortion looking over the hood as the heat is "extractred." I keep thinking of heat waves coming off of a hot surface like a road or a heater.

Then a hypothetical question. I would if we could use these for cool air INTAKE?

It would be cool if we got some temperature measurements of the engine compartment before and after this mod.

Also, cutting off the cross-member seems a little bit much. Is it not on there for a good reason? Cutting it is bound to increase the likely"hood" of it folding or poping up in an accident. Is there a way to get them on without cutting the cross member? Can you just leave it there and work around it or weld it back on after?

It would also be nice to fab up a blocker plate to close in off in the winter so that the engine warms up/stays warm (much bigger deal with CRD than gasser). Of course in AZ, I would not need it but those in MN would.

Phadeout:
I am still working in it, when i finish this weekend I'll post some pictures.

boxhead:
I didn't notice that, I think because I am too close to the heat waves, so I don't see anything.
And yes you can just turn them opposite side and they can act as a cool air going inside to the engine.

Pablo:
I actually did test the hood strenght by pushing between the openings to see if the hood week or not, but it seemed that it still hard.
Yes, I got problem washing the car with water, because some water goes inside.
For the heat, here in Middle East, no need even for hood :P it is too HOT already, the degree now is 42.5ْ

sorry to disagree, but those look like a cheap pep boys add on installed by a kid in metal shop.

why not just get some real louvers stamped into the hood?

I have a set of the plain unpainted ones on my Cherokee, been on for 4 years or so no problems, never really checked but I know after you have been out for a while it is a little cooler under the hood than it was before. Never saw any heat waves driving but do when you walk away from it. I keep thinking of jerking them off the Cherokee and putting them on the Libby but havent yet. As far as having louvers punched into the hood as "someone" suggested yes it would be better but the cost would be through the roof. You would need to take the hood completely apart, all bracing etc off so you only have the skin, then do the louvers and put it all back together and repaint. Been there done that on my 32 coupe.

but at least then it would look like a quality job instead of how that turned out.

it wouldnt have looked any worse or better if you had used double sided sticky tape. but it would have saved you tons of time.
