that would look awesome in a shiny silverish ceramic coating like they put on expensive headers.

Guys, Dave had this made up for him by a fabricator in Phoenix. I'm sure he'll show the guy all the interest and maybe..., who knows...maybe there will be another style on the market.

it is stout too, saw him catch it a couple of times and it didn't do a thing to the bumper.

What is the advantage of the piece that sticks WAY out front?

A friend of mine puts his girlfriend in the stinger and then drives thru deep water...I guess that is one advantage

Now that you mentioned it ...

Of course that only makes me like it more. My son? He'll go nuts when I mention this :)

I have this mental image now of her hanging on the front......if she looks anything like I think she does

Wonder if the guy has ever thought of a matching rear bumper that would curve around to the sides?

Oh and Terry the stinger out on the front helps if you roll over, keeps the hood / front from hitting the ground, at least thats one of the things it does

That piece that sticks way out is called a "stinger",very common on modded TJ bumbers. In theory it should help from a end over end front flip on very steep descents, also it's a easy place to attach a rope for your spotter(s) can add wieght to the front end to avoid flipping backwards on steep inclines.Plus it just looks cool!

Hey everyone, Thanks for all the positive feedback on the bumper. (I'm just glad I can contribute something to our members here at LOST.)

A little background...I've been without a bumper for about 9 months since an accident. I didn't like what was currently on the market and couldn't wait any longer so I came up with a rough design and found a guy (Gordon) that used to make frames for Bourget Motorcycles. So, I'd like to take credit for the bumper but it was all Gordon. He runs a one man operation and specializes in tubework and lifts. After the response, I asked him if he would be open to making more. He usually does custom work and hates making mass produced items as that was what he did at Toys by Troy. However, he would be open to making these for those that want them.

The bumper is plated on the top. He can plate the openings on the "wings" for those that want them. The stinger is optional as is the skid plate underneath. There are six mounting points, two on either side of the winch mount, two at the end of the "wings" where we bolted it to the frame, and two underneath where the skidplate mounts to the bolts where the control arm is attached to the crossmemeber. There are two TJ hooks that are bolted on horizontally on either side of the winch, and two light taps at the top of the winch.

A couple of things I have already been thinking about:

1. On the next one, I wanted the lights to be integrated into the bumper, similar to the way the JK's have their lights.
2. For those that do not want a winch, I've been thinking of a design where we pull everything closer and have a tube running all the way across the front, and then plating it.
3. 04's willbe kind of hard. Got to think of a way to bring the bar up to cover where the turn signals go. Those will have to be incorporated somehow also.
4. I do not know how much it weighs. Gordon said less than 100 pounds but probably not a lot less. I also have the skidplate and the stinger on it so that will add to the weight. If there is interest, we will take the bumper off and weigh it since he will have to make a jig anyway

So, any combination of: winch/no winch, plate/no plate, stinger/no stinger, skidplate/ no skidplate can be made for you vehicle. I asked him for pricing and he said $600 steel or $700 powdercoated with every option. Because these pieces are large and beefy, it may require some assembly and/or welding once you get it.

So, Thanks again for the feedback. :D Keep them coming for any changes you would like to see that he can incorporate, and please PM me if you are interested in getting one.

Dave

What kind of powdercoating paint is on your stinger? Looks like a very shiny graphite color.

It's actually a shiny black to match my Jeep. There was a clear coat option if I wanted it, but powder-coating it was the quickest and most inexpensive way of getting it colored and looking finished. I've got some Krylon ready for the eventual scratches.

[quote="AZScout"]What do you guys think of this bumper? Too much, different color, plate it, leave it, all comments welcome. I'm still debating on whether to go with a no-winch bumper or to keep this one.

Thanks!

Just wondering about the Trxux tires you have? I have the same ones on a Frankenlift and get minor rubbing in the front with full lock turns and in the back I'm hitting the forward (under the door) fender with any kind of off road useage. I have the MT Classic Lock wheels which are a little wider than the Moab wheels you are using.

Oh and BTW the tube bumper is really nice......great job!!
