Mine appears to correctly display mileage, using Dieselb, UNTIL I turn on the cruise control. Once the cruise is on, it reads like I'm using Diesela. Perhaps thats why they say it doesn't support MPG for the CRD.

I tried dieslb to start with, haven't tried diesela yet.

Yes you can hook it up to a computer, once Linear-Logic releases the cable and software. I think data logging would be very awesome. Get your baseline for an hour of driving, you notice one day something isnt right. So you grab your laptop, go for another hour drive, log that data and compare it to the old stuff. It might help, it might not but its really cool. I want to be able to do that and you can with this little guy, just not yet, lol.

I tried "dieselb" on my Scangauge and the mileage was off worse then on "a", but at least it wan't optimistic. It kept reporting I was getting 16mpg, but my measurement is always about 20mpg when I fill up. But, that's closer than with "a" where it said I was averaging 30mpg.

Chad,

My experience was that the cruise control messed up the MPG readings, and that turning it off returned the Dieselb readings to normal. Have you noticed that?

Put one of your guages on LOD, how much power is being currently used, go down a highway and watch the number. Now put it on cruise, it will use about 5% less power with cruise on and thus save fuel. I want to try drafting next, early in the morning the old girl has to use much more power and more boost to get moving until she warms up. I love watching my guages, lol.

drafting does not work like most think... you have to be SO close to the car/truck in front of ya you should be swapping paint... and if you not doing that... your risking $1 saved in fuel vs. $20,000 in car repair and med bills from the lawsuit of the car crash, and being charged with "tailgating"

I use to do it all the time till i did the "nascar driving school" boy was i wrong......

I think the only time drafting...or something like it has an effect is when you are travelling with a large group of vehicles, especially semis', not only in front but behind and on the sides. It seems like you have a whole mass of air displaced or moving along and reducing the drag? Just a theory I suppose.

Try it out (safely if you can) with a semi and let us know just how close we need to be to a big rig to catch a ride.

One semi did pass me, he either pushed me ahead with his wind or I was in behind his draft of some sort, but when he passed along side of me, it was about 44 and dropped down to 38 for about 10 seconds. 6% less power to move jeep when he passed me, lol.

Try this some time. Won't work in the CRD because of the drive by wire though. Try it on a car with standard throttle and cruise.

Get 3 car lengths behind a semi and set the cruise to match his speed. After speed has stabilized, swing out into the left lane and feel with your foot how the gas pedal drops to try to maintain speed. Swing back in behind the semi and feel how the pedal rises when you're back in his wake. Drafting does work. Even back at a safe distance there is some benefit.

Got my Scangauge today. I hope it works as good for me as it has for you all. My only question is where did you all mount yours at?

Mounted mine on the left side by the door under the vent. Its not a bad place, will try and find a better place for it sometime.

My scanguage has locked up on me many times though. I think its when your viewing alot of changing numbers it will lock up fast. I have had prolonged success with it when viewing gauges that dont change frequently. I did this testing a while back and forget all the details but on my next trip I will test what guages work best and how long they work.

Mine will typically lock up on a longer drive, but for shorter trips it stays functional.

I bought it mostly to clear codes, and it does that quite well.

I have the p0102 ( i think that is what it is) come up everytime I start it up. But it clears right up with the scan gauge. I will go back to work tomorrow and test it some then. I have a trip to Atlanta next week. I will try it out real good then.

Now that I have had mine for a couple of weeks some things I have noticed:

It locks up when I turn the OD off for some reason.

It is fun to watch on trips when someone else is driving.

Clears codes very well excapt for the ones with the FCV unhooked (for offroad use of course)

Well worth the Money. :D :D

The Scangauge is great, but the CRD computer is not. That's why the gauge locks up. It's not the fault of the scangauge.

Mine locks up for no rhyme or reason. Sometimes it will work for hours, sometimes for seconds. But I got it to reset the ORM code. I start the Jeep, clear the code, and drive.

Does it happen to have a readout for outside temperature?
