I think NOW we are down to literally SPLITTING HAIRS.

:D Yea, when you think of the design and how they are pressed in, can't see much diff.

Here is what the factory service manual has to say about alignment after balljoint replacement...

Note the last step - perform a wheel alignment.

Well its back in the shop, they finally got the Torque converter in and they are installing it this week. The oil leak is from one of the turbo hoses, they had to order a new one, not just loose, apparently its bad. Hope to get it back next week. Will update once I get it back.

Taz,
How did they / you know that the turbo was leaking oil, what were the visable symptoms, lots of oil leaking down onto the transmission crossmember ? Was the oli leaking from the turbo lubrication line ot thru a turbo seal. I am getting a lot of engine vapour and leakage and suspect a worn turbo.

Well I got the CRD back today and the Turbo Hose was found to be leaking because oil was leaking enough for the technician who was changing the oil to notice it running down inside the engine compartment. They also had to replace some seals in the Turbo. As for some of the other repairs. The Torque converter is installed and there is no more stalling when I come to a stop when it is cold. There is still a slight delay when I put it into gear if has been sitting even though they did the filter replacement also. It's been in the shop so long that I am having a hard time telling if the performance has been downgraded with the computer reprogram, although it does feel a little weak in the torque department. I will have to check the mileage on the next tank to see if it is affected. As for the stutter at 55 mph, its still there.
On another note I got a Gas Liberty to drive while mine was getting fixed, I got 15 mpg. With Regular Gas at $3.18 per gallon and Diesel at $2.84 per gallon.

Long Live the CRD, I hope.

I thank my lucky stars that I've got a "good" CRD. I haven't experienced any stutter, poor mileage, lost power, leaks, etc. I keep an eye out for these things, but my little Jeep just keeps on doing what I want it to do. It's one sweet ride.

I've got the new TC and F37 in mine, and have had it since I bought it (came that way when I bought it used). Keep us posted on what happens with yours. So far, mine feels fine.

YOU HAD MENTIONED YOU HAVE A DELAY WHEN IT SITS FOR AWHILE AND THEN IT WILL GO INTO GEAR. PLEASE CHECK SERVICE BULLETION 21-016-05. I JUST HAD MINE IN THE SHOP FOR THE EXACT SAME THING. THIS IS WHAT IT WAS. IT IS CAUSED BY A FAULTY TRANNY RETURN FILTER THAT DOES NOT HAVE A CHECK VALVE. THEY WERE INSTALLED ON SEVERAL MANY 545RFE TRANNIES WITH CERTAIN BUILD DATES. CHECK INTO THAT

P.S. DID YOU BUY YOUR VEHICLE USED AT A VW DEALERSHIP WITH AROUND 45,000 MILES ON IT. I MAY HAVE LOOKED AT IT TO BUY AS WELL

I LIVE UP IN ST. CLOUD

GOOD DEALERSHIP IN TWIN CITIES I FOUND WAS WACONIA JEEP. THEY HAVE DONE ALL OF MY WORK AND I HAVE BEEN PLEASED

I had the filter TSB done before the TC was replaced, The delay went away but now that the TC is done there is a slight delay again, not as bad as before the filter was replaced. I have owned mine since new in 2005.

Actually none of the issues that I have had with the CRD I have felt bad about, none of them have left me stranded, most are nuisances and even though they should not be I still feel pretty good about the CRD. Its a unique vehicle and I accept unique problems with it.

By the way I am going to drive the Grand Cherokee CRD today, Nope, not replacing the KJ CRD, replacing our Rendezvous.
