What is the max wheel width you guys have seen on a KJ. I'm thinking of going aftermarket once I get lifted since I can get any stock 17s :( haha. The lift will be a frankenlift w/ clevis up front and rear spring isolators out back, planning on running 265/70/17. I know I won't be able to go as tall with the wide wheels, but I don't want my KJ to look or feel like it's on stilts, expecially going around a turn.

Donnie, you don't want to do a clevis lift with a frankenlift. The CV angles are crazy when you first put on the lift and then it settles. I think you are asking for problems if you do both the frankenlift and a clevis lift.

Ahh, thanks. Would you reccomend I put them on after it settles? Or just leave them off all together?

It depends on how much it settles. I don't have the frankenlift but I have read that it is tall lift.

So why the change to lift the KJ, I liked what you were doing.

I wouldn't run over a 8" rim,major rubbing with anything wider.The 265/70R17's will fit on a 7" rim and not look thin.I run 265/75's on a 7" rim with no problems.

The rims are too big, they rubbed and took a chip out of one tire. I'm done with worrying about turning, bad roads, dirt, etc. My influence is Oz's KJ. I'm planning on running a 32.X mudterrain on aftermarket 17s. Still the clean look, tinted tails and windows, without the rear tire and emblems, just lifted.

Although, this had me thinking too:

If you like that you should check out the Honda Element SC, all new for 07 even the nose has changed with slimmer headlights. Looks killer.

AEV wheels...they will make any size you need.

The biggest problem with wider wheels with less backspacing is the rears will hit metal when stuffed. I had 16x7s with 4.75 bs with 265/75/16s on my 2002 and I had to remove 1/2" of metal aroung the rear passenger door opening in the wheel well area with a dremmel. It was still a VERY TIGHT FIT.

A perfect wheel would probably be 16x7.5 with 5"bs

Hmm, I can't seem to find them on the website. Only the wheel that you can see on the right of the picture, with the yellow emblem.

How would this work. I'm wondering the 8" rim rubbing? I can get the terra grapplers for $300 with 5k on them. I won't be offroading too much, I will go out in the cornfields paths behind my house though for some fun,

I could get this all for less than I sold my 22"s and tires for:

-265/70/17 Terra Grapplers
-17 x 8 Rims (a slew of choices, see below)
-Rustys 3" Suspension Lift (strut plate and isolators)

Think the backspacing and width will kill ya on that wheel, their designed for the straight axle Jeeps.

The hoss? The're made for everything from Liberties(5x4.5) IFS truck (6 lug) to 2500 SFA (8 lugs). My 22s were 10" wide.

I'm going with 16x8 on 245/75.
