I feel like my KJ doesnt have any power anymore. It seems like I have to give it more gas then I used to for it to go anywhere. Or, I'm just getting used to it or something. Anyway, I'll be sure to get the avg. mpg off the EVIC next time I drive to see if it sucks or not.

My question is:
The Jeep has almost 78,000 on it. Is there anything I should look for that could be getting worn out that would cause me to loose some hp?

New Plugs...don't believe the 100,000 mile hype...they still fire but are not as good as new!

Check the rear brakes to make sure they are not dragging, both the regular and ebrake. This is fairly common problem and exhibits the signs you are experienceing. Acceleration from a stop is where it shows the best/worst.

How would I go about checking this? Is there a teltale sign of dragging I should look for. Sorry, I'm not all too knowledgable about this stuff.

New Plugs, good clean air filter (Amsoil EAA201  ), tire pressure.
Any chance the catalytic converter is getting plugged up? I have not heard of that being a problem on a KJ yet but I am sure it is only amatter of time before someone has that problem.

I'll check those things out. Except the catalytic converter...

Mine is only at 36k and I feel the same way.
I remember when it was still new, a tiny touch on the gas pedal would jump it straight forward right away.. not anymore.
I continue to do my 0-60s.. and still the same at 10sec. If it goes over 10 i will freak. :)

Ah, and I found that it feels like the energy is out there when I drive in 4x4 Full Time. It feels like things are working as they should, as opposed to 2x4 which feels sloppy and somewhat slower (engine is lazier).

To check if the brakes are dragging, drive around for about 45-60 min, stop and feel the center of the rims.If they are to hot to touch then that brake(s) are dragging.

Do you just dump the injector cleaner?

Add the fuel injector cleaner to your fuel.

The Cat is actually easy to test...drill a small hole just before the Cat and start the vehicle...get a guage to check the pressure...weld up that hole or insert a screw...drill a hole just behind the Cat...check pressure...If there is a big pressure drop the Cat could be clogged.

I would avoid that at all costs, but seeing you drive an 05', its probably a good thing to get done. If I had an 06' it'd be a different story.

Bad tank of fuel? Every tank is bad for me.....at $3.50 a gallon!  This is where I was wishing I drove a CRD.

I would check the brakes first, however, at 70,000+ miles it would be sound advice to replace all your gear fluids, spark plugs, air filter etc. Ask a mechanic that you trust to do a compression test on all your cylinders as well. It's possible that you may have an upper cylinder leak or a bad head gasket. Go in order of cost so you don't need to spend exhorbitant amounts of money just to find out your gas cap was loose

Also, when the A/C is on, I feel like all the engine power is getting sucked up by the A/C... Does anyone else feel the same way?

Mine has always felt more sluggish with a/c on. It seems like I actually get better mileage with all the windows down than with them up and the a/c running.

That was me, yesterday. But the howling wind at 60mph made me dizzy :) so I had to turn on the A/C.
Plus the heat does not escape from the KJ.. It could be due to the windhsield, I got no shade/tint, so the sun is hitting me real good and making it a lot hotter than it is supposed to be inside.

It's perfectly normal to have a little power loss while running the A/C because it runs off the motor, and uses quite a bit of power. However, these days A/C units are a lot more efficient and running them will not use too much more gas than having the windows down.
