Any feedback on this? I haven't done a whole lot of research and never bought anything off e-bay before. Seems cheap...would it be worth it?

That, my friend, is false advertising. These things are worse than stock. It is not even a ram air system. It draws air from the inside of the bay. A true ram air is a closed system with the inlet in a high pressure area, forcing air into the intake. A true ram air has the intake from the scooped hood or a direct intake from the grill.

That's true. The purpose of ram air is to neutralize the effort the engine has to exert to "pull" air into itself...instead, with ram air, it just opens its valves and air rushes in. Reduces pre-work for the engine, and the outside air is MUCH cooler and denser, and makes for a more powerful ignition. All of this makes power.

At 150 mph+

:D

The snorkel will only bring cold air into the engine if it is placed near a cold air source such as the grill. It must also be isolated from the hot air of the engine compartment. Having a metal intake tube doesn't make much sense at it will absorb the heat from the engine and warm it to a degree where it won't be as effective as possible. I wouldn't waste your money on this setup - remember, you get what you pay for. If you want a good cold air intake go with the big names or fabricate one yourself with some pvc tubing and a good quality air filter like the AEM Dryflow or an Amsoil Ae series filter. Just my 2 cents.

I got the Volant air filter CAI Image It really cleans up the engine bay, and is much less restrictive than the stock airbox. I don't ford water often, so not worried about that. Throttle response is immediately more noticeable, and "seat of the pants" tells me I've got some more torque. Not bad at all...

Next project is to run piping from the grill to the filter to bathe it in cold air. It won't be ram air, but it will lower the temp of the intake charge.

A real "snorkel" will get you colder cleaner air but it will take some cutting and work to install. The new Amsoil air filter is probably the best application for the stock air box right now. There have been a couple of members that have added some air sources using "inexpensive" parts and running them into the stock air box.

Ha, ya something seemed a little off about what they were offering! Thanks for the replies.

Csukoh78, do you find your volant set up offers much beyond stock?

Thanks

slightly more intake noise. Seems to take off a bit quicker, and definitely has more punch when you get on it. Other than that, who knows?
