I just bought another Libby. Since I don't smoke I got one without the smokers package. No Ash Tray.

I wanted to change the radio so I got he "Master Sheet" as it's called from Crutchfield. I notied the sheet they sent was for removing the face plate via a screw behind the ash tray. I wrote to Crutchfireld and here is the response I got.

"We have not researched a Liberty that did not have an ashtray so we do not have specific instructions for it. Typically the removal is similar in both versions. The ashtray may be replaced with a pocket or possible not present at all which would make the installation easier.

When you actually have you vehicle in you hands if you cannot figure out the removal please email us some pictures and we will figure it out for you."

Amazing folks will figure it out from a photo?

I just removed mine like 20 minutes ago. The screw is in the little compartment right beside the 12V plug. Then the rest of it just pops off. I had the same directions from the bracket I was mounting for my XM radio.

Yeah .. it's directly below the A/C controls in that indentation (that houses the outlet).

Well newer KJs don't come with ashtray at all at that position. They come with a little cup-like plastic that goes in the front cup holder.

Just like they said, the ashtray was replaced with a pocket.. the screw is in that pocket.

Take the screw out then pull from the bottom of the surround.. Very easy..
