Lift Help

ok i finally have the money for a lift

and now i need to know which one of these is better i have a 2002 Sport and im leaning more towards the Rough Country and i also need to know what else ill need to buy to make the lift complete

The Rough Country lift is the lesser of two evils. If you really don't want to spend more than $200 for a lift kit, I would recommend RRO's Combo Lift kit (http://www.rocky-road.com/kjsus.html), if you don't mind dealing with their horrible customer service.

Or, call All-J and ask what you can get now for $200 and then add on later. For example, you could get just the OME coil springs now, and then add spacers later. I'll bet Quinn at All-J would be happy to provide some guidance if you call him. (www.boulderbars.com)

In addition to the lift, you'll need longer shocks for the rear, either Rancho 17004 or the sweet OME shocks All-J sells. (It looks like the Rough Country kit comes with shocks, but you may find yourself replacing them as soon as you install them.)

Hey JSC, I had the OTT lift and it was okay, but it blew out my struts and front springs in 20k miles. Luckily I did not have any issues with the ball joints like most people have or it could have been real expensive. The rough contry is probably the better bet but I would recommend Rustys suspension lift and do the work yourself or find a LOST member to help save some money.

Yeah, Rusty's coil lift is a very good choice, but I suggested the Combo lift because if you have an '02 (pre-lowered) you get an extra 5/8" or so of lift from it without doing a clevis lift.

If I were doing it all over, though, I probably would have gotten Rusty's and then done a clevis lift and added extra spring isolators in the rear. But that's obviously more than $200.

You might consider a Daystar kit, too. People have reported good results with it.

Two to three thousand dollars expensive, just to let ya know.

2-3K seems a little high. I just redid my entire front suspension with rusty's coil lift, al's a-arms and new control arm bushings for about $1100. I did all the labor. The only thing an OTT lift destroys is the front struts and possibly the upper ball joints.

Well, I was adding in the cost to replace tires, as well. By the time I got new upper arms and lower ball joints (Rusty's is real fast about getting their coils and struts to you but, I had some problems getting other things), I had less than 1/8" tread left but, I also don't have anything else to drive atm. If a ball joint fails completely though you could be looking at a lot heftier costs.

Is this the reason you pulled your RRO lift?

True didn't even think of the tires also true if the ball joint breaks. That would cause some serious damage!! My jeep is also my daily driver. I'm screwed if it breaks down during the week while i have work.

To the original poster, get a rusty's coil lift or do an ome lift. If you have the extra cash get the frankenlift. I like the rusty's kit, just wish it were a little higher in the front. If i had to do it all over i'd do the frankenlift.
