5 AT Tires Which to Choose?

UTQ LOAD/SPEED TREAD RPM LBS
Bridgestone Revo 500AB 106S 13 704 36
General Grabber AT2 640AB 107T 17 707 40.7
Hercules Terra Trac AT 500AB 107S 13.5 33
Couldn't find rpm for Hercules
Nokian Vatiiva 460AB 107S 14 707 35
Pirelli Scorpion ATR 520AB 107T 14 705.1 37

This is my 1st post here.
Do the Grabber hit your mileage compared to the others? Are they noisier? Is there anything deal breaking about them or any of the others? I'll check back later.

if I had a choice from that list I'd go with the revo's but again thats my opinion

I wanted to go with P rated tires (was advised it would ride better) AT KOs aren't made made in a P rated size. Grabbers appear to be as close to the BF Goodrich as you are going to get in a P rated tire.

Even though the Pirellis are top rated at tire rack the Pirelli tread doesn't look aggressive enough for any mud to me.

Just to let you know "P" tires are passenger car tires,hence the better ride.If you plan on going offroad get "LT" tires that stands for Light Truck,they will stand up better to abuse.Sure you take a little hit in mpg's and a little harder ride,it's a Jeep not a caddy.Good "LT" tires will make your KJ handle better in all terrains better than "P" tires.My 2 cents.

Have you seen the Grabbers real life in person? I've read good things about them (a few from former T/A KO owners). I don't know of any serious complaints. They have 17/32 tread come with a 60k warranty and are supposed to clean pretty well (for an AT)

********OFF TOPIC ** I was just wondering if there is a name for the color of your Libby and if it came that way from the factory? I've never seen one that color yellow and was jus wondering if Chrysler has a name for it.

I have seen the Grabbers before and for a AT tire they are supposed to be really good,if I liked AT tires the Grabbers would be way ahead on my list.As far as my KJ color goes---It's orange not yellow----No it didn't come from the factory that color($5500 in hail damage,I worked at a bodyshop so I had some fun)------It's based off a '01 Lamborghini color called Atlas Orange.Oh by the way I got out of a ticket and got the accident dropped to no-fault because the officer couldn't see it was orange and wrote down yellow.

My General's are less than a year old and have been rotated often and never realy wheeled and they're cracking. Valley Tire said they'd do nothing about them. Then we got Bridgestone involved and they're prorating them towards new tires. I think we're going with the destination AT's this time. Just my opinion. The guys at Valley said this is the first they'd ever seen of it but said it was weather caused.

I have heard of a few balancing problems, but this is the first I'v heard cracking.

Why would Bridgestone get involvedthough? Arent Generals made by Continental tire?

Anyone runs Yokohama Geolandar ATS on daily basis with highway? A few people swear by them, and they have above mediocre reviews at few sites. (no tire rack reviews yet).

I'd have to go with the generals, I put them on the libby and love 'em. I currently have bfg at's on my TJ but when it comes time, I'm goin with the general....... can't beat them for the price

There are a dozen reviews of the Geolander AT-S (Just not enough to put them in the rankings).

Jim, not sure what you mean there..
That reviewer says "4wd is a must with these tires in snow (they drive great with 4wd)" .....well? Who would expect a good traction on a packed snow with a 2WD truck!?

He didn't seem to have any complaints about the Revos in snow. Am I reading too much into it? Don't you think Revos are more agressive / better suited to snow?

Well, in my case choices are limited and unfortunately REVOs are not an option.
They don't have 65/17s.

Nokians are supposed to be at least as good as Revos.
